I just heard on the local TV news that the "manager" of the Olympic Pipline Co., has been sentenced to six months in prison, the most severe sentence available to the Judge. There will be two more employee sentences announced today. HOORAY! This was a horrible event that happened four years ago, 1999, in Bellingham, Washington, USA. Because of missmanagement and lack of safety education, three young people died in a horrible fire that descended a creek bed running through the middle of this town. My personal connection with this event started when my son-in-law called me from Bellingham, in a panic and on the run. His wife and their two girls were 6 blocks from the explosion. He had simply thrown everyone in the car, grabbed his cell phone, and they were on their way North to the Canadian border. He called me to ask me to find out what happened. Hopefully these sentences will teach someone a lesson. I do hope that we can next get the CEO's of these careless comapies.
