The Boys of the Lough recorded several albums in the 1970s on the Philo Record label, including The Piper's Broken Finger (Philo 1042).

At the time, Philo Records was an independent company in North Ferrisburg, Vermont, about 12 miles south of Burlington. It was named after the nearby Mt. Philo.

Philo Records went bankraupt in the early-1980s and was bought by Rounder Records.
