St. Theresa of Avilla, the great mystic, was travelling with some of her nuns. The weather was bad, their cart threw a wheel, and they wound up in a ditch full of mud.
St. Theresa asked God, "Why, Your Majesty, when we are doing your work, do you treat us so?" God responded, "This is how I treat my friends." "No wonder," the saint replied, "You have so few of them." I've been having one of those weeks. This story seemed apropos.
