My ancestors were kicked out of France, because they were the wrong kind of Christians. While I'm grateful to the French for giving us the opportunity for self improvement. (They became Irish.) I know what a well organized bunch of Christian fanatics can do, especially if the government is backing them.
Samuel Parris and Cotton Mather were convinced there was an occult conspiracy going on in Massachussetts, in 1692. It created a very unhealthy situation for a great many people, many of them devout Christians. I fear conspiracy theorists more than conspiracy theories.
