We used to take the Clark Street bus from the North Side o' Chicago all the way to Comiskey Park. That was in the days of Minnie Minoso and Jungle Jim Rivera and Billy Pierce and Chico Carresquel and Sherm Lollar etc. etc. before the Dan Ryan Expressway was there I think. When the Yankees came to town it was always Billy Pierce up against Whitey Ford. The Yankees always won !

But the Cubs NEVER won. You are correct. It's terribly sad, but I cannot argue with the truth. I'll never forget old Andy Pafko and that batters stance of his where he'd just stick his bat up and his ass out ---hoping to get hit so he could trot to first base rubbing his butt as he went. (I can see it vivid like it was just yesterday afternoon.) But it's the curse of that damn Billy Goat in Sam Sianis' old tavern. Sam Sianis' bar where J. Belushi got his "cheeps, cheeps, no fries" line. One of these days-----some day---God knows when---but it has to happen---yes, one fine day we will break the curse that damn animal put on us and the Cubs will win a World Series.----------------- But until then I will continue to go to Wrigley and pay my respects to the ashes of my old friend Stevie Goodman (some of which were scattered at the base of the vines in left-center field all unknown to the Tribune Company).

Geeesh, we've turned this into a B.S. thread. To get it back to music again, just go to the D.T. and find Steve Goodman's song "The Dying Cub Fan's Last Request".

So, if you can tell me I'd like to know: Why the bad blood 'tween the South Side Irish and the North Side Irish in Chicago ?? ;-)
