Thanks everyone. I can tell you that we filmed a set in Trier on Saturday and that it went reasonably well. It was one of by best street shows for some time. I got a good edge and played it reasonably well.
By chance, sitting behind me on the fountain in the market place, was an Englishman on holiday who was the press secretary of the UK Green Party. He knew my mate Miller Davidson, a former Green Party candidate, who had previously been a busker for many years. I already knew that Miller had died two years ago. In a way, it was a reminder that I have been luckier than many of my colleagues. Strange forces at work here for those of us who don't believe in coincidences!
The TV documentary will go out on SWF in Germany on July 10th, which is rather earlier than I had expected. One TV appearance will not open the gates of Babylon for me, but it won't do any harm either.
When people think of buskers, they usually think of people standing in the tube or at the side of the street playing hopefully while people walk past. I like to go out to pull a crowd and play the crowd well. It looks very easy but I know very few people who can do it well - and even fewer who can sustain that self belief and stamina over a longer period of time. I think I may still be able to do it though and if I can get on a roll I intend to stay there this time. Thanks for your help and please stick with me. We have made a start. Alan.
