Irritating, but I THINK I know what is happening. It is possible that it happens because I accidently hit the enter key after typing my name. It's a theory anyway.

The notes to the Document CD pretty much ignore this recording, other than the recording data. They DO mention that Karnes bought his harp-guitar in 1927 for the princely, no KINGLY sum of $375.

There are not a lot of differences, just a few subtle changes. Doc done good at remembering it. Now I just need Stewie to stop by and see how well I did. I don't hear the playS of the title as given in the notes. It was fun, a song that I have intended to add for a long time, but never got a round tuit.

The Days Of My Childhood Plays
Alfred G. Karnes, Bristol, TN, October 28, 1928

Could I only find the way back to yesterday
To the golden days of my childhood play
My life would be different, my enemies would be friends
My leisures not wasted, my life so full of sins.

If I could only find the way back to the days of my childhood play

harp-guitar break!

If I could only find the way back to the days of my childhood play

Could I only find the days as they were then
The golden days to live all over again
My path would not be empty, I'd make a mark in light
My mother so happy, her hair not near so white

If I could only find the way back to the days of my childhood play

Could I only find the days as they once seemed
And childish joys not speed away like dreams
The schoolhouse on the hilltop and the meadows all in bloom
The birdsong in the willow, not a world not so full of gloom

If I could only find the way back to the days of my childhood play

harp-guitar break!

If I could only find the way back to the days of my childhood play
