My apartment in Chicago was sprayed once a month whether it needed it or not. They kept keys to the place and did the job while most people were at work.
I came home to find the man running down the stairs in terror with his face all scratched. He claims the cat was waiting on the refrigerator for him when he went into the kitchen, leapt at his face, she did and caused serious injury. But he never filed a complaint. I suspect that he sprayed her to get her out of the way and she ran to the kitchen to hide. When he followed, she defended herself. Munchkin was a nasty girl known as Munch. Not my nastiest kitty - Fred holds that position after being barred from two different veterinary offices.
