ps. speaking of interesting UK pubs, the Travel page of the Sunday paper included the following -
Stow-on-the-Wold's Royalist Hotel, is the oldest English inn, est. 947AD as a leper hospice - not enough history on the site (well, it is advertising itself as a classy restaurant!
