Thread Name: Folk songs at Melbourne Town Hall
Subject: RE: Folk songs at Melbourne Town Hall
Been revelling in nostalgia recently with the postings from Australia - thanks for the efforts on my behalf. I had a really good time there in the '60s and was made to feel really welcome (I seem to remember a folky place called Frank Traynor's). David Lumsden was also on the Melbourne LP, I found his name recently on an Australian folk site - wonder if he's still got a copy, must be one of his first recordings?

In trying to find my original copy, I found the chap I lent it to died about 3 months ago! Can't really write to his widow, saying "Did he mention anything about a record of mine before he went..... ?"

As I'm not likely to get a copy of the original, any suggestions for current CDs of good old traditional Australian folk songs, so I could mail order them. Apart from Martyn Wyndham-Read and a couple of CDs kindly sent by Rob Willis, I'm limited to copies of "While the Billy Boils" and "Songs from the Wallaby Track" which I bought in charity shops on recent trips to London.

Thanks anyway,

Mal
