Thread Name: Folk Music Vids
Subject: Folk Music Vids
A few years ago (more than I care to number at this point) a small cable channel in Ontario ran a show called "Listen Up".. It was an interview show with Canadian singer-songwriters... some Q&A... some performance... quite a good show...
Well, a young fluffy Nothern-Ontario, wannabe-folkie taped them as they were aired...
Now, his tech has evloved... Using a Sony handi-cam, I've bveen able to dub them onto Super8 and then capture them onto my PC via firewire...
So currently, I have 6 clips... 3 of Garnet Rogers, and 3 of Stephen Fearing...
Still to come... Ferron, James Keelaghan, Andrew Cash, Don Ross, Anderson & Brown, and Ian Tamblyn...
Here's the issue... Size... and transfer rates...
So far the shortest of these vids is 5 min and 9 seconds long, and is just slightly over 27 megs... encoded as a wmv file... The quality is good.. considering that these tapes a a few years old, and have been played to death... the audio is pretty darn good too!
I wanna make these available to folks who wanna share 'em... So they are in my Kazaa shared folder... and are accessable through my virtual FTP server... (Which I will only open to broadband users... sorry) Once I have all the bits capped that I wanna get, I'll look into archiving them onto Vid CDs as well I suppose...
So here's my questions...
Anybody interested in seein' 'em? Anybody got vid capping advice? (format? Codex? to make 'em small but still of good quality? Please don't even suggest Real Format!) Anybody got storage suggestions?
