Subject: RE: Is your S/O jealous of Bob Dylan?
Me too, we both like Dylan pretty well. She has a higher tolerance for Simon and Garfunkle than I do. I do better with later Simon. The first time she heard old Jethro Tull stuff I liked she said He gets on his little high horse sometimes doesn't he? which was annoyingly correct. And everytime I play Stormy Weather she asks why am I playing that old tune, always as if it were the first time. I like the tune, bitch. just kidding, we have our 18th anniversary this month. We can kid.

I think J. Hendrix had a similar Dylan issue with his S/O, for a while, and wouldn't let her leave the room while a record was on, because she'd miss this part.

I'm trying to think what enthusiasms of mine Lynne doesn't do well with. Ukulele's, she can be forgiven. Keeping an eye on popular culture generally--she can be forgiven in much the same way, but geez sometimes it's like she was raised in the Alps by wolves. My favorite "depressing" literature, short-stories, Raymond Carver--I tell her to try to read it less with an attitude of There but for the Grace of God go I, more with an attitude of See Ya See Ya, wouldn't wanna be ya.

S/Os who don't play are often jealous of the instruments themselves, it seems to me. But I can't complain.
