Thread Name: Lyr Add: It's the Same Old Shillelagh
Subject: Lyr Add: IT'S THE SAME OLD SHILLELAGH
Here's one I haven't been able to find in DT. Does anyone know if there are more verses?

Fifty years ago me father left old Erin's shore;
He landed, his shillelagh in hand, and divil a penny more.
He got a job, and then a wife, and then a family;
When oops, he dies and leaves his old shillelagh stick to me.

CHORUS: Sure, it's the same old shillelagh me father brought from Ireland;
And divil a man would fash with him when he had it in his hand.
He used to take it to bed with him, he'd never part with it,
For sure, a' one would monkey with it, begorra, he'd have a fit!

Sure, with that same old shillelagh me father could lick a dozen men;
As soon as they got up, begorra, he'd knock 'em down again!
And many's the time he's used it on me, to make me understand;
Sure, it's the same old shillelagh me father brought from Ireland.

Now I'm going on the police force, 'tis the only thing to do;
And instead of having one nightstick, begorra, I'll have two.
And in a fight I'll be all right; no one will bother me;
For I'll have the old shillelagh that my father left to me.
