Thread Name: Why is 'Dixie' considered racist?
Subject: RE: Why is 'Dixie' considered racist?
Sorry my friends,
It always gets me that because someone is potentially "offended" we should give up on something that means a great deal to ourselves and is from a totally different view point.

I wish I was in the land of cotton
(The South, the Blueridge Mountains and Shenandoah Valley, The Chesapeake Bay, The Great Smoky Mountains, Kentucky and Tennessee and other very beautiful places)
Good times there are not forgotten
(This may have been changed from Old times) but still how many of you have had to sit and listen to your father reminice(sp?) and still they will tell you how they had to walk to school, 8 miles, in the snow, uphill, both ways (LOL).

Sure, slavery is an ugly sin, but we can't change the past.
Are we to get rid of everything in history that may offend?
