Information from friend - Jeff Warner says "Hi" - was that he hadn't heard the song. He said:

"Best bet for info on songs like this is probably Bob Bethke, who published a book Adirondack Voices: Woodsmen and Woods Lore, U. of Illinois Press in 1981. The song below is not in that book.

"He can probably be reached where he teaches at the Univ. of Delaware."

He further said you could also check with Dr. Edward "Sandy" Ives at The Institute of Island Studies, Charlottetown, PEI, Canada.
