This reminds me of a story I read in Sound on Sound mag, about a guy who had written a program that could produce all the possible tunes of 1 min long. It took about a day on a Cray to come up with your tune but when it did, because he had a patent on the program he owned the copyright to your tune!
Mercifully I heard no more about such an obscene idea, so I hope it died the death it so richly deserved.
