Thread Name: Looking for Mal Finch from the UK
Subject: Looking for Mal Finch from the UK
Has anyone seen or heard of Mal Finch recently? During the 1984-85 Miners strike she released 'Inside Out' and 'Flamin Nerve'. She wrote 'For the Women of the Working Class'. It will be twenty years ago, next year, since the Miners strike and the womens support groups will be having a conference in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, organised and co-ordinated by The University of Northumbria. Linked events are still in the planning stages but we need to find Mal - her songs kept the women going and they are still sung today. Please, please - if anyone knows of her whereabouts would they let me know.
I am also collecting songs that were sung during the strike in addition to mining songs - any contributions would be gratefully received.
