I would like to learn to play the guitar, but I don't think I will be able to go to classes. Could anyone suggest a good video / book / method ?

What can I expect along this journey ? I am in my 40s, with no musical training. Might it be difficult ? All I want to be able to do is sing and play for my own enjoyment.

Are there any types of guitars which are more suited to beginners ?

What other questions should I be asking ?

Is the banjo easier !!?!
