         The melody to this love song is a slow and measured rendition of Down By The Sally Gardens which lingers between measures,  and would sound fair on a dulcimer and recorder.  Lente, lente.

 Though the day it had long gone
 When first  your stranger's gentle smile
 I gladly looked  upon.

 Though short our time of meeting

 And the moon draw out the sea,
 And in the center, stilly stands
 My own true love, with me.
