Thread Name: Lyr Req: songs about salt
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: All kinds of songs about salt
Well I don't know any songs but here is a little story.

When I worked in Iran we used to pass the salt pans on the way to work. That's the place where they harvest sea salt. What they do is level many acres of land along the coastline and separate it from the sea with dykes or low walls of earth.

To let the seawater in they bulldoze openings in these walls and the water rushes in, then they close the gaps. When the water first runs in, all the sea birds swoop down and catch the fish that are stranded in the shallow water. So when we drove past, every so often we would see the salt pans swarming with seabirds.

So that is the story of why Sea Salt is so rich in trace elements, mostly phosphates.
