I think kitties like to watch us grooming ourselves. I know mine often likes to be sure that I'm watching her groom -- usually by sitting in my lap when she does it.

If you want to try the hair brush, you might try using yours and get a new one for yourself. Yours will be familiar and smell okay. On my kitty, I use a brush that has the wide spaced soft plastic teeth with the little rubber tips, but also has bristles that are about half as high. The rubber teeth feel good, I think, but the bristles catch the surface hair.

I don't think I'd recommend the fish oil, and it only means more hairballs!
