The second pet shop I tried had 3 different kinds of grooming mitts -- I bought the best-looking one (little rubber knobbies on one side, a chamois on the other), brought it home, and distracted the Roo from the rather large strange-looking thing on my hand with a bit of cat-nip.

THen I very gently and gingerly tried Raedwulf's 20 strokes round and round up and down thing on her most hospitable areas (NOT her belly or her tush) and VOILA! She actually LIKED it! (Either that or she just hasn't caught on yet) What a relief! She must have lost a lb of hair in 10 minutes, and didn't even notice! I'm so pleased -- we'll work up to the belly and tush by Christmas maybe.

Thank you SO much to everyone, especially Jeri for recommending the mitt. I only wish I'd noticed the things in the pet shop before. Big letters on the box "AS ADVERTISED ON TV". Well, that's what I get for never watching TV I guess ....

Between my quitting smoking and this belated-for-12-years VICTORY over the 2 zillion hairs on the Roo, I'll sure be breathing easier around here!
