My brother always used to insist that it should be mandatory that everyone wear a firearm when leaving the house. You would be arrested and jailed if you didn't wear one.

His reasoning was that all the smart people would stay indoors for a fortnight or so, and everyone else would blow each other away whilst going about their usual heedless, rude, brain-dead business.

Then when the dust had settled and all the bodies removed, the smart ones'd come out and the world would be a much smarter (and nicer) (and roomier) place.
