John

Why has nobody mentioned 'Prince Heathen'? Lets see: abduction, rape, humiliation, voyeurism, degradation...

This might have been acceptable folkie entertainment in 1969 but I would like to think we've all grown up a little since then. You know, I remember Kim Howells (the UK culture minister) decrying rap music for it's so-called celebration of violence and gang culture. Carthy, Steeleye, Mr Fox and other UK folk acts were doing material about rape, infanticide and so on throughout the 70s and 80s. Rap is supposedly evil, according to the government. Carthy gets an MBE. Go figure.
