Dear All,

I hope every one is well!

I have a request: Does anyone have a recording of the song The Sweet Kumadee they would be willing to record on an audio tape and send to me? Even if it's you singing it and playing it I would just love to hear this song. Please contact me at matthew_lambert@yahoo.com or post back here, thank you!

Take care

Matthew

Hi, Matthew - were you aware that our database has the song (click here) and a MIDI? I searched the usual suspects, and didn't find a recording of it currently available. I'll admit that I often have trouble learning songs from MIDI files, so I can sympathize. I need to hear somebody actually sing it.

Dear Joe,

Thank you very much for your help! I did find the lyrics and I have litstened to the midi file, (and used the searh engines, but to no avail), but since I haven't heard this song for about 25 years I need a little assistance!

Thank you for taking the time to help me!

Matthew

I learned it from the singing of Ewan MacColl. I don't know of a currently available recording, though.

The most recent recording of the song that I have found is on the CD 'Scottish Voices' a compilation by Topic Records 1996 (TSCD703) where it's sung by Ian Manuel

I have the Ewan MacColl recording and could tape it for you, also a (much better loved but technically bad) recording of The Golden Vanity by Graham Bok. If you still want the tape send me your address via the members page. - Susanne

Dear Dick,

I have to explain that I just surfed into this fantastic site the other day (found it by some good luck), and have been overwhelmed by all these friendly people who are willing to help me. Your offer to sing the song for me at Mystic is such a kind offer and strikes me right at the heart.

I have to say I live in the UK and I'm assuming you're in the US, which means I would have little chance of getting to you to hear the song if you do play it. I have heard the song perhaps only a dozen times. My father used to play and sing it to me, as one of many other folk and pop songs, when I was child, but the last time he played it I had to stop him because it started to make me cry (I was quite a sentimental young boy). My father passed away many years ago and I just thought that I should really try and find this song because it affected me so much as a child and because it holds memories of those moments with my father. So, (phew, I got here in the end) if you do want play it (and please understand that I would think nothing less of you if you didn't play the song), the gesture would mean a great deal to me, even I can't be there to here it. Thank you for kind thoughts and generosity of spirit.

Dear Susanne.

Another kind offer! Please accept my gratitude! I have joined via the membership board and I have messaged you.

Dear All

Thank you all for your kindness and patience, thank you…….

Matthew
