Subject: RE: I need to find 'Lonesome Gillette' From: DonMeixner Date: 24 Feb 05 - 12:03 AM I have been asked to help develop a pedal driven strum device for a man who has had a stroke. He has a right side parallisis. His chording skills are at a professional level so I'm hoping a foot pedal strummer will help this fellow get back some of what he lost. I saw Gillette in Boston and he has a "One Man Band" acy that utilizing something similar to what I am trying to build. I'm hoping he can answer some questions for me. Don |

Subject: RE: I need to find 'Lonesome Gillette' From: Joe Offer Date: 25 Feb 05 - 01:24 AM Hi, Don - I thought "Lonesome Gillette" was a song. I dind't know the song, so I bypassed the thread. Now that I caught on, I looked up "Lonesome Gillette's" e-mail on his Mudcat registration and sent him an e-mail. I'll let you know if he replies. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: I need to find 'Lonesome Gillette' From: GUEST,Lonesome Gilette Date: 25 Feb 05 - 03:57 PM Hi You guys, Lonesome Gilette here. Joe Offer tracked me down, thanks Joe. Sorry I haven't been around the last few years. I have a love/hate relationship with the internet, but that's another topic. But... yes Don, I might have some insight on the footpedal strummer idea for your friend. I hope it's ok for me to include an email address here... my email adress is: ericroyer@msn.com and my website is www.guitarmachine.com I am alive and well, still doing the bluegrass one man band thing. Just last week I did a great folk music series in Milford New Hampshire, run by Art Bryan, today I played up New Hampshire too. Do a couple gigs a week, till the spring thaw when I will be hitting the streets and pubs again fulltime. |

This is what I love about the Mudcat, this altruism and finding of folks who've passed on such good things as this. Thanks to Lonesome Gillette and Don and Joe. all the best, kat |
Subject: RE: I need to find 'Lonesome Gillette' From: DonMeixner Date: 26 Feb 05 - 02:37 PM Hi Gang, Firstly I'm home and OK. I got home in time to watch Syracuse play basketball. I felt the same chest problems I had at Old Songs last June. I spent awhile in the hospital and had a bunch of tests and was sent home. The problem wasn't my heart even tho' everything screamed heart attack. My heart appears to be better than fine and the constituent plumbing is better that most 50+ guys can hope for, thats a big plus. But the symptoms that sent me to the hospital were real and now we are looking elsewhere. More on that as news becomes available. Eric, Thanks for getting back to me. I'll be in touch via e-mail. This looks like a fun project for me. I'll try to get you a drawinging of what I have in mind. Don |
Subject: RE: I need to find 'Lonesome Gillette' From: Arkie Date: 26 Feb 05 - 09:10 PM Glad "Lonesome" has been found. The other Gillette Brothers, mentioned earlier, though the wrong Gillettes for this thread are well worth a listen if anyone has the opportunity. They know how to pick songs and know how to present them. They are big stuff on the cowboy circuit, but one does not have to be wild about cowboy music to enjoy them. |
