Subject: RE: Origins: Roy Roger Um / Hi Ho Jerum / Hi Ro Jerum From: GUEST,Ewan McVicar Date: 08 Sep 25 - 06:10 PM Regarding my father's version, learned I reckon in Glasgow in the 1930s, I worked out that his tune is a fairly close relative in march rhythm of 'Turkey In The Straw'. |

Subject: RE: Origins: Roy Roger Um / Hi Ho Jerum / Hi Ro Jerum From: GUEST,Ewan McVicar Date: 12 Sep 25 - 02:21 PM Looked at the only tune shown above, and listened to a couple in links, none like my father's one, which was very much Turkey In The Straw, particularly in the second [chorus] strain. He would have learned it as a Glasgow student in the 1930s, I do not have copies any more of editions of the The Scottish Students' Song Book, mentioned above. I wonder what tune would be in some edition of that? |
