Thanks, Marion

I don't have the lyrics, Marion (and there may be more than one translation), but when I sing "O Sole Mio" for groups that have a lot of Spanish-speakers, I often find folks trying to sing along in Spanish. I'm told there is at least one translation that's fairly well known in some Hispanic communities.

If I can find it, I'll post it. If someone else beats me to it, all the better. I'd like to have that version, too.

It is on a cd, JVC original CDG JVC-15. Not seen. KJ Pro song search. I looked at their order form and they are expensive.

I'd be interested in that, too, Q.

FWIW, when folks sing the song "in Spanish" with me, they sing the "O Sole Mio" part in Italian and then go into Spanish. (Kinda like we often do in English with songs like "Que Sera Sera" or the English version of "Funiculi, Funicula.")

I thought we sang "Che serà serà" before switching to English, not "Que será será". FWIW. At least I'm sure I do!

It is listed as a track # 4 on JVC-15, "O Sole Mio" on the cd. No artist or orchestra listing. Try O Sole Mio
At the top of this page are options including "Order." I know nothing about this outfit. I would suggest contacting a Spanish music-record store in New York, Miami or Los Angeles and inquiring if you are serious about buying.

Haruo, the title of the song Que Sera Sera is in Spanish. If it were Che Sera Sera it would be Italian, and that's not the way it was written.

I have an old 78 recording of it by Richard Tauber and it says "sung in Neopolitan". I understand from an Italian speaking friend that Neopolitan is quite different from Italian. Italy was only created as a unified country in the early 20th Cent and the various parts speak quite different dialects.

Yes, Orac, "O Sole Mio" is Neapolitan (i.e., in the dialect of Naples), which is substantially different from, say, Italian as spoken in Rome or Milan. It may be as different from standard Italian as the French in Quebec is from Parisian French or even as Yiddish is from German. I can understand some of the lyrics, since I speak/understand a little bit of Italian, but there are words and phrases I can't even translate without asking someone from southern Italy, since the dialect is so different.

Still, Spanish versions do seem to exist, and that's what Marion is looking for.
