After several discussions about how to inquire of record companies to rerelease some old, albeit obscure, or just 'limited audience appeal' favorite albums on CD, and finding it seemingly futile, I was wondering if anyone would have any ideas as to what it would take to purchase the masters of some of those old albums and independently release them. (See the recent "greenbriar boys" thread.

The thought has occurred to me too more than once. I would be interested in the experiences of those who have done it. The LP's I have in mind will almost certainly never be released again.

Recently, the technology has fallen into the hands of "the consumer" or "audio-phio" or "archivist" to transcribe analog recordings into digital CDs which may be played on any traditional player (WAV)

You will find the most current information and the highest interest levels in the "news-grouops" of the internet. A great deal of trading occurs within the obscure recordings because they are not available through any other medium.

If this is your interest, I will post some of the groups that may benefit you.
