A couple of years ago, on Memorial Day, or the 4th of July, I switched on the TV to TNN and the VCR just in time to catch the following part of a video featuring Johnny Cash, Tommy Cash, Tom T. Hall and George Jones, marching along waving the Flat and singing.

JC: I know you burned your flag, but I'm sure glad you couldn't burn mine.

GJ: It's funny that burning a symbol could cause such a flap

All of the wars that we've fought have been about that

We'll fly the flag so high, it's out of your reach

And while we're about it, we might burn the Freedom of Speech.

TTH: My flag flies in my heart and it flies in my mind

TC: It's not just a rag that came off an assembly line

TTH: Each man must preach what he thinks and must live in his time
