Looks like it's on the Claire Lynch Silver and Gold album that I thought I had, but I can't find it. It's also on a couple of albums by Kenny Rogers, and on recordings by Sequoyah and Songhunter. But not on anything I have. Hang on - somebody is sure to have it. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: Lyr Add: IF WISHES WERE HORSES (Gretchen Peters) From: Joe Offer Date: 14 Jan 04 - 08:35 PM I lied. I have it on the Rounder O Sister! collection. Nice song. If Wishes Were Horses (Gretchen Peters) Well, I was born with a dark cloud above me, A longing deep in my soul I was raised up right, and I know my mama loved me, But I begged her to let me go.
I said the grass is greener on the other side, Somewhere there's a bluer sky I won't stop runnin' til I'm satisfied, And if wishes were horses, I would ride, ride, ride. You've been my life-long friend; But there's a hunger inside me that I can't abandon Til I see what's around the bend. [Chorus and instrumental break] Now I've been a road (?) and I've been a rambler I know too well my sins I've got the faith of a saint but the soul of a gambler And a heart like the restless wind. [Chorus] transcribed from the Claire Lynch recording. |
