Thanks Ali! We had a cracking weekend, too. My only complaint is that the Music Room makes it far too easy to spend money! I felt as though I was five years old in a sweetshop!

The Saturday afternoon concert in the Town Hall was brill - I had a ball MCing - thanks everyone on the committee for inviting me to do it.
I can't really single anyone out as all the artists were wonderful - but I'd never seen Isambarde or Seize The Day before, and was bowled over by both the groups. Why can't the day job be this enjoyable?!!!

If you lost your Trilby hat on Saturday Night Chris you left it on a chair in the Whickham after several people turned it into a Flat Cap it ended up on the mantle piece.

Well I enjoyed the weekend I would like to suggest that the Festival Committee add a Drinking For Lancastrian Softies Workshop to the itinerary as well as Ray Padget's Wibberly Wobberly Walking Workshop. I did notice one or two Wibberling when they should have been wobberling again this year.

I had en-suite camping as I camped next to the Tardis Loo thing.
Tried it twice and both times ended up in 1894. Dissapointing!
Left me cap behind. Would someone please go back and fetch it.
They might find a cap saying 'Huddersfield Town football play-off final at Cardif 2004' rather confusing!

Well not exactly - liked almost everything, however a puzzling campsite facility was the bloo Tardis with the interesting instruction on the door 'Do not not use unless in emergency'

I assure the organisers it was an emergerncy every time!!

I'm just coming down to land after a weekend of fantastic festival fun. So many great events it's hard to prioritise but, apart from the foot stamping success of the main stage concerts here are a few fringe goodies.
John Prentice sat in a town centre cafe "nattering", playing, singing and entertaining the customers for an hour. Anne Curan greeting the early early risers on Sunday, an hour of beautiful music and great food in another town centre cafe followed by another hopur of the Wilsons to really wake us up.
The festival finale in the Marsh pub, an under canvas success despite the short shower (I took my mac) and free grub too.
All three were new initiatives this year just like the dancing in Heckmondwike. It's only by trying new stuff that we find out what works (and can be kept) and what flops (and can be cancelled or corrected).
Jim
How about telling us NOW what you liked and hated to make the 22nd (Yes there will be another) as big or better success as the 21st!!
Jim

Also spent a fab Sat afternnon & evening in the company of those most noble & talented matriarchs of the Acoustic Collective - a superb backing group for me renditions - brill!

ps - forgot to mench the other big treat was to visit the Music Room again

Hadn't seen the new premises before - definite musicians paradise even if not buying anything - spent a happy hour in the various 'playrooms' sampling the delights of the squeeze & pluck depts.

They'd also a most enigmatic multi-necked electro guitar on display.

A group of us gathered by it with some staff to ponder how on earth anyone could play it - a staff volunteered that it'd have to be a very tall, strong person with extremely long arms!!

Anyone else pop in there??

Another fabulous do!

Think we shoulda camped in the Wickham car park tho', as we spent practically the whole w/end there in the superb sinarounds in almost every room - who cares about a few spots've rain & cloudy skies when there's such brilliance abounding in the singsongs!!

We always do have a Festival Feedback form which is handed out to everybody in their programme and left on seats in venues etc. This year there will be a special Festival Feedback form organised by a team for Kirklees Council, this is part of the agreement of a grant that we received. I hope as many people as possible will find the time to complete this form and that Kirklees will keep allowing us grants to help fund the Festival.

As Cleckywike has just proved in his last post he is quiet open to sorting out little problems and taking them on board. Trying new things to try to make things better don't seem a bad idea to me. Ok so it didn't work it's still full marks to the Cleck FF team for spending Months and Months, Day's and Day's, Hours and Hours times twenty one making sure that Cleckheaton Folk Festival run as smoothly as possible.

What made me see Red was a Guest making negative last moment comments (Mudcatters know it's always a Guest that whinges) criticising people who have spent the last year getting ready for the festival. Don't you think the time for Suggestions was on the day and to the committee or as soon as possible afterwards. I'll bet Cleckheaton has a festival feedback form.

I bet I know one past Bradshaw Mummer who would have loved to been performing with you in Heckmondwike. Wouldn't surprise me to find out he was there watching and cheering you on.

OK Ken the thing about taking Morris teams down in to Hekmondwike was a excrement and yes it did not work so we have to ask why ?, Heckmondwike is no deferent to many other towns the fact is that supermarkets are killing of our town centres. But Batley and Dewsbury arn't   like thy used to be do we see a time when we will all be performing on Supermarket car parks I do certainly hope not

there's nowt matter with Cleckheaton FF but as you ask the team Bradshaw Mummers performed to 1 solitary drunk and waited until the bus returned to pick them up and to deposit Witchmen to perform to the same audience, i think it unfair to be called a whinger when any Saturday afternoon Heckmondwike is like a ghost town, Batley or Dewsbury would have made more sense to take dance or performance to the general public.
i know some teams who will perform to the opening of an envelope.(if the cap fits wear it)
this is my personal opinion and not necessarily that of the team

I second and I'll mention the unbelevable amount of money that Kirkles have spent to make sure that the Campsite will not flood. Then there is Pickles Transport Company with buses to all the venues.
