Subject: RE: Who's up for Llanstock 2016? From: Llanfair Date: 21 Apr 16 - 04:36 AM Doug, The Goat is a short walk from The Black Lion and my place, and I don't think there's a problem with late comers. Both pubs have parking, but Powys will be charging for parking in the main car park if our protests fall on deaf ears, I'm afraid few of our roads are safe for pedestrians, or cyclists, come to that, at night. There's no street lighting out of town, and the roads are bendy. My caravan is now booked. |

Subject: RE: Who's up for Llanstock 2016? From: Doug Chadwick Date: 20 Apr 16 - 07:47 PM I'm interested. If the musical events are going to be held in a pub, I would prefer to leave my car locked up and enjoy a drink, so I have a few questions:- Is the B&B accommodation within walking distance of where the music will be taking place? Is it the sort of place that would accept guests returning late into the night? Is there car parking available? Is the campsite, at a mile away, connected by a road safe for pedestrians? DC |
Subject: RE: Who's up for Llanstock 2016? From: Llanfair Date: 20 Apr 16 - 04:56 PM Accommodation shouldn't be a problem, most railway visitors come for a day out. I can offer a small caravan, a bed settee, and a little floor space, the last two with built-in dogs. Julia can offer two bedrooms, the Goat does B&B, and there's a camp site a mile away. All 3 pubs do meals, and there's a chip shop. I do amazing brunches. I'll talk to the landlord of the Black Lion, those who came to the first Llanstocks won't recognise the Red Lion, it's not the same. Book early to avoid disappointment!!! |

Subject: RE: Who's up for Llanstock 2016? From: Noreen Date: 20 Apr 16 - 09:22 AM Just spotted when I followed the link to the Light Railway, that the weekend we have chosen is their Country Railway Weekend 25th June 2016 Experience the W&LLR in pre-preservation times as it served the agricultural community. Travel on our replica 1903 carriages, watch demonstration freight movements and trans-shipment, and admire vintage road vehicles. Will this mean the local accommodation will get snapped up, Bron? |

Subject: Who's up for Llanstock 2016? From: Noreen Date: 20 Apr 16 - 09:14 AM Llanstock Redux 25-26 June 2016 We have the makings of a jolly musical Mudcat gathering this summer, in the lovely small Welsh town of Llanfair Caereinion, the home of Bron, known here on Mudcat as Llanfair. Some of you with long memories may remember previous Llanstocks where Mudcatters previously unknown to each other in real life, made life-long friendships through sharing music. [Just type Llanstock into the Filter box, set age to "All" and spend some time finding out what previous ones were like.] What is planned is very informal. Bron is discussing possibilities with the Black Lion re our making music there, they do food and drink, there are B&Bs in the town and a campsite not far away. What more could you want? (A Light Railway, you say? Yup, that too!) What happens depends very much on who comes but I expect it will involve playing, singing and sharing music, eating, drinking, socialising and perhaps a little making merry! More information on application :) (Feel free to PM me if you wish.) Who likes the idea? |
