Subject: RE: Warwick F F who is going? From: Folkiedave Date: 24 Jul 07 - 04:18 AM I hadn't realised there was a thread to the floods and congratulations to the organisers for getting the news on their web page and keeping people informed. Certainly I remember after that amazing storm last year the site drained very quickly - so unless there is another really big change in the weather conditions I am sure we well all have a great time. Remember to come to my stall (Collectorsfolk) and sign the mudcat book. (Blatant advert). Dave |

Subject: RE: Warwick F F who is going? From: Peter K Date: 23 Jul 07 - 03:46 PM According to the festival blog, all is well and the festival is going head as normal. I have just had a chat with the rest of the campsite setup crew, we will all be going at are normal times. The only difficulty I can see is that the rail station appears to be closed. I am planning to catch a bus (the X17) from coventry instead. |

Subject: RE: Warwick F F who is going? From: Geoff the Duck Date: 23 Jul 07 - 05:35 AM I seem to have missed a couple of bits of HTML code in the above posting It should have read :- I've just been looking at the interweb for any information about weather conditions and the state of rivers. The latest bunch of floods this last weekend have been further South and West of Warwick. Warwick Folk festival's own site has got a page for late news, including weather conditions. The say that so far there is not a problem with the festival site. http://warwickfolkfestival.co.uk/news.shtml. Their weather report is dated today. The Environment Agency has a Flood Warning page for the Midlands. At time of this posting the River Avon between Rugby (Quite a long way upstream from Warwick) and Salford Priors (Downstream from Stratford-On-Avon) is on flood watch. Of course that doesn't mean that there will be a problem at Warwick even if there are some flooded locations on the Avon. Of course, it isn't necessarily local weather conditions which cause the problems. A number of people including performers didn't get to Saddleworth Festival because they were stuck in the floods a hundred miles south of Saddleworth. The County Council has a list of road closures some of these are water related. http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/corporate/newsstor.nsf/publicbycategories/355CA38797FB3B358025731F003E60A1?opendocument. They also have flood information for the County http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/corporate/newsstor.nsf/PublicByCategories/908F42BCD1CE02E28025731E0053CA40, although most recent info is from Friday. Don't know how frequently it will be updated during the present dodgy weather. Quack! Geoff. |

Subject: RE: Warwick F F who is going? From: Folkiedave Date: 15 Jul 07 - 03:37 PM I wonder if we have a jaundiced view of the weather last year? That was as bad a thunderstorm as I have ever known - and if you want to know how bad it was talk to Graham Bradshaw who saw lightning flashing across his lighting rig during a performance and felt obliged to pull the plug!! And let's remember someone got killed on the bridge too. But as I remember - the rest of the festival was good weather, and thanks to the very dry nature of the ground it was soaked up very quickly - and things seemed to get dry fairly soon. I'll take a book so if you come to the bookstall *collectorsfolk" please feel free to let me know and I will post the names after we get back. I hope to be opposite the beer tent!! Dave |
Subject: RE: Warwick F F who is going? From: Dave Earl Date: 15 Jul 07 - 01:00 PM If there is one place I will be it will be in the beer tent at teatime after I've finished my stewarding for the day. if that fits in with the rest of your festival I'll perhaps see you there. Dave |

Subject: RE: Warwick F F who is going? From: r.padgett Date: 14 Jul 07 - 03:16 AM I will be there with Jim McD if he survives Stainsby FF and I remember the words at Saddleworth FF!! It was a bit wet last year and I have vivid memories of sitting in Moor and Coast tent with Glen holding the rain off the back of his food tent as the lighting came and the rain flooded the food tent (again) Time for some good weather this year, please Ray |
