Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 02 Mar 12 - 03:20 AM Refresh. I was very worried at 4 am that I would be unable to drink on Sunday due to painkillers due to fanguish, but the fang seems to have started to settle down, so normal consumption can be resumed as soon as possible. Hoffentlich. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 01 Mar 12 - 12:25 PM That is an inaccurate use of language, Sue. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Girl Friday Date: 01 Mar 12 - 09:10 AM If Richard was advocating incest he would mayhap be representing it. And thereby profiting from it... |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: The Barden of England Date: 01 Mar 12 - 05:34 AM I thought you were advocating incest for a moment there Richard - but I then noted the spelling! John Barden |

Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Abdul The Bul Bul Date: 29 Feb 12 - 05:13 PM The trouble with living round these here parts is Bleedin Shepherd Neame beer in most of the pubs. It doesn't like me. Al |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 29 Feb 12 - 12:14 PM The Brakspears will be the only beer on proper handpumps. There will be the usual range of kegs and lagers, and there is usually bottled Shitfire and Nun's Pleasure. The pub also does tea and coffee. |

Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: melodeonboy Date: 28 Feb 12 - 08:34 AM Brakspear's is a really nice session bitter! :-) |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 28 Feb 12 - 07:48 AM Beer will be Brakspear's double dropped Bitter at 3.4. http://www.brakspear-beers.co.uk/beers The Late Red would have worked out at £3.50 per pint. Not good! |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: melodeonboy Date: 27 Feb 12 - 06:14 PM Late Red? Mmmm.... nice! |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: GUEST Date: 27 Feb 12 - 05:02 PM Richard, there is a programme starting now on Channel 4 at 10pm about Winter Sing. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Girl Friday Date: 27 Feb 12 - 11:39 AM Hoping to be there. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 27 Feb 12 - 08:53 AM Sunday 4th March. Last Lower Stoke Winter Sing of the season. Nags Head Lower Stoke ME3 9RA. Opening time (noon) until we fall over or the barrel is empty or about 6 or 7-ish. Fire in the grate and logburner in the pub, roast spuds on the bar, squidge in my house in front of log fire afterwards. Collection for Knockholt funds. I expect to be selecting the beer later today or maybe tomorrow - it might be Late Red. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 06 Feb 12 - 06:10 AM Chase him! Don't let him get away! |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: GUEST,Rachel Date: 06 Feb 12 - 05:20 AM I think someone was sorely tempted |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 06 Feb 12 - 05:08 AM And even maybe a prospect of selling your 12-string too... |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: GUEST,Rachel Date: 06 Feb 12 - 05:04 AM Really loved the day. Enhanced by having the opportunity to play a beautiful and much coveted recorder, not to mention the harmonious singing at the end. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 06 Feb 12 - 03:44 AM It was very nice if not overcrowded. Tony and Lesley made it and we had a late burst of vocal harmony from various traditions. The Ruddles was VERY moreish. Next and last one for this year 4 March. Bee there or bee a rectangular thynge. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 03 Feb 12 - 12:49 PM Snow warnings - maybe as much as a foot of the stuff. Don't forget to take plenty of antifreeze (that is to say alcohol) and I'll put an extra chili in the squidge so you can tie a curry-eater on the bonnet to breathe on the road on the way home... Seriously, folks, the A2 and the A289 and A228 will be salted and gritted to extinction, so expect no trouble. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 03 Feb 12 - 03:26 AM Well, it may take a few pints to find out. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: melodeonboy Date: 03 Feb 12 - 02:59 AM As it's now brewed by Greene King, could "Ruddles' Best" be an oxymoron? :) |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 02 Feb 12 - 04:23 PM Well, I won't be lying on it, I'm not that daft. But there will be some squidge. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: My guru always said Date: 02 Feb 12 - 01:56 PM Silly question, will you be laying on snow? |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 02 Feb 12 - 04:53 AM The beer this Sunday will be Ruddles' Best. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 01 Feb 12 - 03:01 PM Refresh - it's this coming Sunday. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 27 Jan 12 - 11:35 AM The beer experiment continues well: this weekend the pub has a skiffle afternoon on Sunday and has laid in the Reverend James again because the locals liked it so much. Allegedly a good start was made on it last night. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: GUEST,Wee Jock Date: 27 Jan 12 - 05:58 AM Richard Not sure if i will be there, as Border Crossing have a gig at The George Pub City Way Rochester that evening starting at 8.30 PM. Just to reiterate what everbody said re last session very enjoyable. glad to see that your efforts have not been in vane. PS I Feel a song coming on Cheers Wee Jock |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 26 Jan 12 - 10:51 PM Maybe I'll suggest JUST the late Red. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: melodeonboy Date: 26 Jan 12 - 05:40 PM Unfortunately, I'm unlikely to be there for 5th. February; prior engagement. I hope to be back in March. Hmmm... the Late Red sounds nice! There's so much excellent beer in Kent, we don't need to import! |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: My guru always said Date: 26 Jan 12 - 01:05 PM Excellent news that your efforts have caused a preference for real beer locally, well done! |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 26 Jan 12 - 10:44 AM Refresh - Feb 5th Nags Head ME3 9RA noon until 6 or 7 ish, beer not chosen yet but locals have taken to proper beer so there may well be a barrel of Late Red AND whatever I persuade the landlord to get in. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 18 Jan 12 - 04:42 PM Exciting news! The villagers have been demanding real beer! Indeed to such an extent that Mick the landlord is thinking seriously about putting on (for our next one) not only a barrel of whatever I select from the list he can get from his source, but ALSO a barrel of Late Red in February. The beer engines have received pretty new ceramic handles, and it seems likely that the pool table will vanish and some pretty new leather furniture arrive in the saloon area - and carpet where the pool table used to be. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Girl Friday Date: 10 Jan 12 - 02:50 PM A great afternoon - pity so many prefer their roast dinner to squidge though. They miss a lovely end to the day with good company. Putting the next 2 on the calendar now. BTW for lovers of Tribute, it's one of the beers due to be featured at Orpington Liberal Club. Those of you who are on Facebook can keep up to date on beers and events. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: melodeonboy Date: 09 Jan 12 - 05:51 AM Thanks again, Richard. A very enjoyable afternoon followed by lovely squidge! :) |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 08 Jan 12 - 05:13 PM We normally finish in the pub about 6 or 7 and then eat and chat in the house. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: My guru always said Date: 08 Jan 12 - 03:53 PM Apologies for non-attendance, again. Due to the clement weather we got involved in the garden (not in that way), winter clearance and finishing the Folly. I wasn't sure what time the karaoke started, or when the sing shifts from the pub, so I didn't fancy the hour drive when the light went, in case things had gone off the boil. Sounds like the Reverend went down well, you obviously had a good afternoon. Roll on February & we'll try again. Keep up the good work! |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: growler Date: 08 Jan 12 - 03:25 PM Good Session Richard. Sorry I was not A1. Karen has asked me to take her to the next one. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 08 Jan 12 - 02:45 PM I report with mixed emotions that the Reverend James ran out about 3 pm-ish. Several folkies were less than delighted, but it proves that we are re-introducing real beer to Lower Coke and if makes Mick the Landlord happy. Next one 5 Feb. Last one 4 Mar. In view of the increasing thirst Mick the Landlord may go to an 11 gallon barrel of Late Red for both. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Dead Horse Date: 07 Jan 12 - 11:41 AM I used to drink it religiously until I kicked the habit. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: My guru always said Date: 07 Jan 12 - 04:52 AM We might pop over to check the Reverend if we get a chance.... |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 07 Jan 12 - 04:33 AM Refresh. Maybe this afternoon... |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: melodeonboy Date: 06 Jan 12 - 06:21 PM Blimey! Are you feeling all right, Richard! |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: Richard Bridge Date: 06 Jan 12 - 06:12 PM It's been tapped tonight but I am too lazy to go over the road to test it. |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter Sings From: growler Date: 06 Jan 12 - 04:17 PM Let's pay Tribute to what is there, by drinking it |
