I am here, in a relatively pleasant-weathered Portaferry. I've been out for my morning run along the shore, I've drunk tea and ate snowballs, I've dusted my fiddle, and I'm all ready to go to Fiddlers at 3pm. The weekend has begun. Hoorah!

Having found the camera battery charger unit in the nick of time (i.e., in time to charge the battery) there will be photos..... most will not be savoury or suitable for those with a nervous disposition.

Seems like a nice record number this year. No doubt most of you won't see this until you get back, so not sure if to say 'hope ya'll have/had a good time?' :)

Well either way it's really nagging at me I can't be there enjoying it with everyone. Was hoping very much to see many of you again, and anyone who reads this board before leaving; hope ya'll drink a pint in honour of those missing.

I look forward to seeing some pictures :P so hope there are some good'ens taken heh
Gah! Well regards to everyone going, and the enigmatic friendly locals. Have fun ya'll. :)

I'm getting a lift up north (and back) from two friends who happen to be driving to Belfast.
Will be spending Friday morning/afternoon in Trinity College Library,
but should be in Portaferry by nightfall. Or at least, before the last Strangford ferry leaves.

So, are we meeting in Fiddlers' Green that night?

Peter, what's the location of the self-catering place (thanks again for booking) and do I need to bring my own bedlinen?

Now, what to bring for the raffle...Hmmm.

Hey, we can do the Queen Elizabeth Bridge at the Dartford end... 3 lanes of M25 type traffic splitting into 8 lanes to get through the toll booths there, and then all merging into 5, of which, 3 don't go the way you want to.....

I reckon if I can do that, I can do anything!

A word of warning about the M2, Manitas. At the Belfast end it's at least five lanes wide, different lanes leading to different places. Drivers adopt varying degrees of lane discipline (or none) several miles before that. Just don't leave it till the last moment before you strike out for those lanes on the far right!

It's thoughtful that they've mentioned Stormont on your route. It's such a modest little place, you'd surely miss it otherwise.

To those driving, be a bit steady if you are not over fast at cornering and correctting steering, there are some wicked bends on that road from Newtonards. I really enjoy the drive, limited passing places, quick bends. Mind you, my passengers sometimes take a different view!A week to go.

That depends on the number of digger-carrying low-bed trucks ... ;-)

Just a note to Fibula's information page. The AA (www.theaa.co.uk)site *is* recognising Portaferry but you need to set the button for Ireland. The directions seem to be much clearer and more sensible (when checked against a map) than Multimap or Autoroute (which has us launching in a straight line across Strangford Lough!).

As Liz, Mudguard and I arrive at the airport at 12.40 we should have plenty of time to meet you all in the pub at 3pm.

Arrive in Belfast about 17:30, may just park up at the terminal, rather than drive strange roads in the dark and head south in the morning, but I'll play it by ear depending on the weather.
