Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: GUEST,sandyandy Date: 05 Nov 08 - 04:36 PM Chris Are you the same Chris that used to come to Ingleton every February with singing mates. If so I am looking to see if you are coming next year and invite you all to attend the February fund raising for the Ingleton Folk Festival that is held in October. Great weekend, lots of music and walsking etc. Sandyandy |

(a confusing range of flavours) A great weekend and abig thanks to Spot and Gnome for the time and effort they put in. Especially Spot for coming via the North Pole driving range. and to all the STARTURDS for letting me play the madolin without breaking it over my head. Love and Hugs to all IWTSHL |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave the Gnome Date: 25 Feb 02 - 11:26 AM Aye, just shows doesn't it Crump. You don't need to arrange much to have fun. A place to sleep, a bog to sink in, beer to help forget...;-) I'm happy that we managed to move back to our roots without dissapointing the good folks of Ingleton. Lets hope the management of the new venues value the free entertainment and don't start up the dreaded discos like the old ones did eh? Cheers Dave the Gnome (Who may be a hampster but does enjoy to escape out of the bar occasionaly!!!) |

Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave the Gnome Date: 24 Feb 02 - 10:36 AM Eeeeh. Just back. Wonderful weekend. Only 7 of us which was, coincidentaly, the same number that started it all 20 years ago. All singers, hikers and drinkers as well, which again was pretty much as it started. Two fantastic sessions in the pub and a brilliant walk in between - including avoiding the streams in Mirkwood and some of our party having a ride on the mystic tree!!! The Lleyn peninsula in Wales really is a magical place. Stood by a bronze age burial chamber and watching the sun setting behind the moutains which rise from the sea was an additional bonus for me. Made me wonder who was placed within and how many times he had watched that same sun set over those same mountains. But then I went to the pub and a few pints of mild and lots of rousing choruses soon knocked me back into shape;-) Cheers DtG |

Ah Dave....Klingon Four....My spiritual home. See you there with most of "damaged". We need a redirector for A.S. or his spirit will miss the toast and walk the outside track forever. Keep it up and I'll never need to do anything again;-) Next year I can go to the Ingleton folk bash in the full knowledge that all the organisation will be completed by a master!!! When is it next year btw? Next weekend - Klingon Four with the Star Trek All Rollicking, Trecking, Understated, Romantic, Depresives Society. (STARTURDS for short...) Cheers and glad it went well. Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: luthier Date: 19 Feb 02 - 11:53 AM Chris. Was it that good? I suppose it must have been because the only thing I can remember is the saga of the two A.M. Weetabix, is my secret safe ? Luthier. P.S. Add my thanks to Keith for doing such a grand job with the mottley crew. |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Chris Date: 19 Feb 02 - 08:57 AM Absolutely brilliant weekend!!!!!!!1 Friday night in the Masons arms was well organized in advance, with the seating and tables arranged so that we were all in the same group.A great sing-around with over 20 of us in attendance.Music ranged from Trad' 'finger-in-the-ear stuff'to blues & good 'ole rock & roll, something for everyone and everyone got a chance to play or sing. Carried on into the wee small hours at one of the guest houses(ask Charlie about the weetabix!) The caravans were not needed as there weren't any hamsters attending and local B&B's had been arranged in advance for everybody. On saturday afternoon there was an impromptu session in the Hill Inn. This was followed in the evening with a full blown session at the Ex-Servicemens Club where we were made very welcome. The numbers were swelled by many of the locals who had been at the Mason"s the previous night. We've been invited back by the club for next year as the locals enjoyed it so much. Considering the short notice given to arrange it all, a big thank you to Charlie & Co.for putting it all together and a special mention must go to Keith for doing a great job of 'M.C'ing the nights, ensured everyone got their turn to play. Next year promises to be even better (if possible) as people who weren't able to make this time because of the short notice, are definites for next. |

Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave the Gnome Date: 06 Feb 02 - 01:51 PM I am not sure if I can chance my arm two weekends running - particularly as one is with Yorkshire sheep and the other is with Welsh ones buy you never know your luck;-) Only ONE barrel though - that's a poor do init??? If I do make it I will not be stopping over so I cancelled the 'vans anyway. If anyone is interested Mrs Morphet at Home Head (10 minutes from the pub and about 5 from the ex-servicemans) will rent you a 6 berth caravan for two nights (she won't do just one night) for about 14 squids a night - bargain! And well done Luthier (who's secret identity is safe with me...) You will get the hang of this computer thing one day:-) Cheers DtG |

Friday night we will be in the Masons arms and on Saturday night the Ex Service mens Club. We have been promised an extra barrel of Theakstons that night, well thats enough for me anyway. Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave Wynn Date: 04 Feb 02 - 07:24 PM kidd, No Ingleton is not near Haworth..(if thats the haworth of the Bronte fame). It is not dramaticaly far , about 30 miles. Guest. This year The "Ingleton do" is Fri / Sat 15th and 16th Feb. But as the previous note says the founders can't make it. But there will be a presence there over this weekend playing and singing in the local pubs. Maybe next year we can try and meet you at the Hill Inn. It's a nice pub and a good venue for song and music. Spot. |

Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave the Gnome Date: 04 Feb 02 - 01:06 PM We've been and gone and done it now! We have moved Ingleton to Wales!!! The shadow still remains in Yorkshire and will be well attended by members of Swinton Folk Club and friends on the 15/16 Feb but the spirit has flown... Meself, Spot, Crump, IWLTSHL plus Steve, Mike and Ged (All known to attendees of the Swinton Bash) will be going to the foreign country West of the border on the 22/23 of Feb. Aiming for somewhere that sounded distictly like 'Klingon four', somewhere after Caernarfon. Any Mudcatters in the area welcome to join us but remember it be on your own head!!! Spot the Dog has more details the Ingleton breakaway weekend (Ingleton the revenge??? Welsh Folkers??? Lliinglletwnn??) PM him or me if you are interested. Cheers Dave the look you boyo Gnome |

Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave the Gnome Date: 30 Jan 02 - 06:21 PM Oh - and IWLTSHL should be with us on the 22/23 as well. (Don't ask...) DtG |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave the Gnome Date: 30 Jan 02 - 06:16 PM Well, well, well. Now here's a turnip for the books. Ingleton is still on for the 15/16 Feb. Fri (15th) in the Masons Arms and Saturday TBA but possibly at the Wheatsheaf after 9pm or possible in someones living room!!! But, here's the rub, Myself, Spot and Crump, along with a few others won't be there! We have been invited to a one-off 'do' which we would like to attend on the 16th. Plus, the guy who is the reason for it all (Mike D - who some of you may have seen at the Lion or the Jug gatherings) cannot make it either as it is his daughters wedding. Pretty flimsy excuse or what? Anywho - there is still as strong contingent up there that weekend for anyone interested. I have not yet cancelled the caravans I booked and will not until Saturday so if anyone wants to go please conatct me and I will give you details of the luxury accomodation. Just ask Kendall or Morticia if you don't believe me...;-) We will be going somewhere the following weekend but as yet this is undecided. Watch this space. Cheers Dave the wandering Gnome |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave Wynn Date: 22 Nov 01 - 06:49 PM Who is Crump? Whomsoever he is he knows too much. Careful Crump People have disappeared at the Ingleton Do and even the locals keep mum about where they go. Spot (returned from a self inflicted computer loss). BS: which transpired to be a phantom PPP adaptor that somehow generated itself from my modem software but wouldn't do the honourable thing and show itself in my settings....... |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Matthew Edwards Date: 21 Nov 01 - 06:05 PM OK I'll enjoy the pint! For some reason people do seem to misremember my name; I get called Michael, Malcolm, Martin, or other variations including "Hey You!" Anyway I do hope that I'll be able to join in this excursion, but for Heaven's sake don't let me be the sherpa or we'll all end up in the caves instead of the hills! |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave the Gnome Date: 21 Nov 01 - 11:45 AM Or even Matthew!!! (Where did Martin come from? No. Don't answer that...) Buy you a pint at Swinton to make up for it;-) DtG |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave the Gnome Date: 21 Nov 01 - 11:43 AM Whernside three times!!! Fit bugger. You can carry at least two of us if you get there Martin;-) DtG |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Matthew Edwards Date: 20 Nov 01 - 06:28 PM Now this looks interesting: a male bondage weekend, with wimmin loosely attached - no, I mean loose women attached - or whatever. My sense of direction is legendary; the last time I did the Three Peaks Walk it turned into the Five Peaks when I misread the map and climbed Whernside three times from a different direction each time! If I've recovered from the Stony Stratford Gathering I might try to make this. |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: crump Date: 20 Nov 01 - 03:33 PM FoG-no bacon butties. There's only 88 days to go. Is anyone taking a lap-top ? IWTSHL-D'you mean filth or fifth? Is bath-time a quick wipe over with Boots moist wonder wipes or will the tap on the outside wall of the cludgey be thawed enough to fill the communal egg-cup? |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: IWTSHL Date: 20 Nov 01 - 03:16 PM Crump The romper suit is not communal it's just for you and me. It gets washed after every fith Ingleton. A warning to the innocent The SHIT'S Ingleton weekend is evil. Attend and your soul is sold to the evil one. |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Noreen Date: 19 Nov 01 - 08:08 PM Sorreee... too sharp for my own good. It must have been the thought of someone really believing that I take heated rollers camping (apologies in advance if I offend anyone who does... Spot's curly coat may require them for all I know...) Hygene is just a greeting - I got that the second read through- very good! And Sharon: :0) |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: SharonA Date: 19 Nov 01 - 05:46 PM So I see it's true: "Ingleton swings like a pendulum do..." ;^) |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: crump Date: 19 Nov 01 - 02:20 PM Noreen, I apologise if I have caused offence. It's true,I've never met a disembodied sense of humour! But lighten up,things could be worse, you could actually be there! |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: GUEST,Spot (at the Kennels) Date: 19 Nov 01 - 10:49 AM Steady Noreen....Crump (Mr / Mrs / Ms) is obviously a new Mudcatter and deserves the benefit of the doubt without having the awful accusation of no SOH. He may be a bit biased towards a stag gathering but having been there even someone as open minded as moi would be hesitant before I welcomed a lady to the event (even a pretty one like you). It's a seriously bad weekend. I wake up with night sweats in January thinking about it. Hygene is just a greeting and no naked lights in the vans in case of methane explosion. Be gentle with Crump...he is obviously someone I know! Spot |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Noreen Date: 18 Nov 01 - 03:52 PM Crump, it seems obvious that you have never met: a)me Or is it that only the male of the species is allowed a sense of humour? |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: crump Date: 18 Nov 01 - 03:11 PM DtG To the departed (in Gaelic ) Red long-johns and yellow bits at each end. Is this a red herring?
FoG How did they do it for the price? Noreen Your stilleto's would brighten the place up but I'm afraid electricity would be a problem. If you can devise a way of linking the rollers to a Calor gas bottle you've cracked it. Is it true that the communal romper-suit never gets washed? |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: GUEST,FOG(Friend of Gnome) Date: 18 Nov 01 - 12:26 PM Heres the one that will sort out the true SHIT from the imposter. What is the significant and mysterious query about the food at the (now under new management) Fountain cafe? All real SHITS will know this instantly. Itis one of the most mysterious puzzles known to man. If Crump cares to answer this to the satisfaction of said present SHITS on this thread, namely Gnome Spot and myself then we will accept his inalienable right to SHITness. If he cannot then like all semi-secret perverted sects he/she will be blackballed forever. See ya all there-gird up your colons chaps. FOG |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave the Gnome Date: 17 Nov 01 - 07:35 PM Hey Crump - your scaring me now! Are you me in another persona? Am I you?? How do you know about all these things??? Am I being stalked? No? Oh damn... Mind you I can always ask the secret questions! What is the toast? Describe the scene that threw the brownies into a state of shock in Hayfield. And who was that masked man? LOL - Cheers DtG

Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: crump Date: 17 Nov 01 - 03:15 PM "salubriwhatsit" and "boolivard" get a grip girl, this is dirt-track,green road, shavings for wimps, accapella trumping, hit me with a large one, fill the kettle with river water, hold your nose and swig it down, boots frozen to the floor, hold onto your sphericals pleasure. Wimmin wont like it.Whats the point of looking in the mirror, scratching the stubble and thinking "sod it" if you don't grow any. This is a diamond geezers week-end,follow through if you dare! |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Noreen Date: 16 Nov 01 - 11:32 AM *hmmm*... now where did I put it... I know I had one of those decorum things somewhere... |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Dave the Gnome Date: 16 Nov 01 - 09:31 AM Whatcher mean 'almost a requirement', Spot? You always told me it was compulsory. Have I been subject to some strange initiation rights? You will be telling me that the thing with the sheep, the snorkel and two buckets of baby oil is not required next! Cheers DtG |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: Morticia Date: 16 Nov 01 - 08:25 AM Well, it certainly sounds attractive *BG*....but I may have to pass on this one and opt for the far more salubrious Stony Stratford weekend....I will pass on the details to Gomez though....sounds right up his boulevard. |
Subject: RE: Ingleton (Yorks, UK) 'do' From: GUEST,Spot (at the Kennels) Date: 16 Nov 01 - 07:51 AM Hmmm...This Crump person certainly describes the weekend like he has been there. Almost every detail right up to getting the trots on Inglebrough.....Who are you Crump. Throw off your closet and come out of the wardrobe. Noreen...Ladies are always welcome at the weekend providing they behave with decorum. The only drawback is their inability to flatulate then laugh like a five year old at how funny they are....this is almost a requirement at Ingleton. Spot (Tethered at the Kennels) |
