There are 7 of us here on this SERIOUSLY posh boat. We have had a fabulous time, and we are tired out.
A million thanks to Wolfgang for his hospitality, and to Mrs Wolfgang.
I have got logged on whilst the others are having a sandwich.
Cheers, Bron.

Hi,

Envy greetings to the meeting from Leutkirch im Allgäu. Shit, how I'd love to be there.Hope everybody arrived healthy and with good condition for the night.

Where is the hourly report on what's happening I expected to find here*bg*?

I have to play a little gig in a pub run by friend of mine just beside the Lake of Constance(Bodensee). I'm gonna think of you all when playing tonight.

Have a good time and enjoy yourself and your music.

Slainte

This is Internet realtime! I'll be starting in an hour or two, but first I'll slip into my bath to avoid smelly feet. (Can't do anything about the garlic, though ...) See you all soon! And to those unavoidably left behind: Enjoy yourselves while you've got the chance to do what you like!

I'm kicking corporate ass in Leeds 'til 4, then burning down to pick Eric up. Hope there's no rozzers on the M62.

Shoite, the boot of my Alfa looks tiny, with an enormous accordion taking up the bigger part. Buggered if I know where I'm putting Bill's 2m fags (cigarettes, yankees!).

I've just had another look at the "Pride of Rotterdam" info. There is an Irish bar, cabaret(!), and, "for the youngsters", a cyber room where people can surf the net.
So, all you landlubbers, watch this space!!!, though we will probably have to browbeat some pimply youths to let us near a computer!!!
I am so excited, and not a bit sleepy!!!!
See you tomorrow! Cheers, Bron.

I didn't say,"saw a melodian in half!" I said, " If you want to smuggle cigarettes, take all the insides out of the melodians!!!". Anyway, ask Billy two mllion.

I won,t be swimming astern, I shall be swimming down to the bottom!!

And Noreen- I never take issue with what you say, but Fresh Humber air? ICI, several petro chemical works, and cobbles feet!!! Oh well, takes all sorts I guess.

22.00hrs now, and less than 24 hours till we go.

Next time we chat, it will be for real.

Goodnight all.

By the way- If Cobble asks any of you ladies or gents to go and see the "golden rivet" -WATCH OUT!!!!!!!!

cheers.

All the information is somewhere in the old threads, but not easy to find. So here you go, for the most vital details:

Who/Where:
Wolfgang Hell
Wiener Str. 24
Münster, Germany
Tel.: 0251/374477
Handy: 0174/8988691

When:
Saturday, 5th of May, noon, til Sunday, noon, roughly

Why: Ah, you should know that by now.

Timetable: open to changes

- I'll be at home on Saturday, so come whenever you are there or feel like
- noon: the largest group of German Mudcat gatherers, i.e. the British delegation, arrives and marks the official start.
- noon to 4 pm: buy everything you want to bring home, the shops close at 4 pm
- 4 pm: guided walk through the town
- 6 to 7 pm: latecomers will find me/us at my place again
- 7 pm: walk to a bistro (with instruments), eat, drink, make music, be merry until closing time
- midnight til don't know when: be my guests at home for beer, wine, whisky, water, sleeping places, have a look through my records, CDs, songbooks and missing
song lyrics.
- (very tentatively): 9am, Sunday: walk to have breakfast in a bistro (same, if we liked it there, other if we didn't)
- noon: who's still there can join me for German food in a restaurant

Wolfgang

Ah, the Welsh narrow gauge steam railways, what a fond memory. I've travelled them all with the exception of Snowdon mountain railway (too much fun to walk that bit up and down).

I'm getting second thoughts about the completeness of my preparation after reading Bill talking (I mean listening him writing) a funny language in the Geordie jokes thread. Do we need an interpreter?

It is still a very hot day over here, today, 25+ degrees centigrade, but there'll be rain tomorrow!

Yes, I am touring! Yes, I am touring! Yes, I am touring!

Hope that answers your three questions ;-)

I do about 500km per week and I usually tour for 4 to 6 weeks at a time. But I don't get slowed down by numbered or named children, as I usually tour alone.

Last year I toured Wales - that's where I met Bron (Llanfair) and also Jon Freeman and Sian (West-Wales).

Nice to know I am not the only tourer at the meeting!

See you all very soon now - less than 70 hours from now.

Btw, my tooth is very quiet right now, I hope it will stay like this for the next five weeks...

Hi Mudguard,
I'll have an open tooth closed this afternoon. Seems to be the season for open teeth *gr* Yeah, it's spring and even holes are growing.

Wolfgang,
I not only gave another(1) thought on taking the train but at least 100 another thoughts. I tried as well to convince some friends to come with me(or me with them, depends on how you regard it)but they all are either uninterested or occupied with other stuff. Don't be angry about me but I can't stand the train, perhaps because I'm not allowed to drive at the moment. On the other hand it's three times more expensive than the car.

So the sad result: I'll be with you in my thoughts and I envy all of you.

I'm shure this won't be the last meeting, maybe when you're all together at Muenster you can fix the date for next year.

All my best wishes to all of you, have fun and music and maybe raise some glasses "for absent friends".

menzze

Thanks for all your support!!!

Only three days till we meet!

Yes, we will meet, as the news from the tooth is:

The dentist cleared all living material from the tooth. And she told me she has to leave it open for at least 8 to 10 days before she can even think about closing it. She told me 4 weeks are no problem if I am not in pain again.

So I will be there for the MudGathering!!! It might just be that I have to cut short my cycling tour which I am going to start from Münster through Netherlands and Belgium towards France (Normandie/Bretagne) and Channel Islands.

Andy, not wanting to put pressure on you in your plight, yet I have to support Bron - I've had a tooth left open for weeks before the inflammation had cleared entirely and a filling could be put in. It didn't stop me from getting about (not for weekends - I certainly wouldn't risk going on holiday with an open tooth!). The only thing is to keep the hole clear of foodstuffs (for which I carried a small pointed pair of pincers - I think ...) and get a chance to brush your teeth regularly.
Gute Besserung, und ich druecke Dir die Daumen, dass Du kommen kannst!

Mudguard, you can't let a tooth stop you please. You can have permission to drink wolfgang's whiskey for pain relief (That's kind of me!) But it would be a shame not to meet you. There are very few things that hurt like tooth ache, so get well soon.

Only 21/2 days to go.

The "Pride of Rotterdam" made her maiden ferry crossing today, complete with 2,000,000 !!! Smuggled cigarettes which were found at Hull in a lorry-what a start, 2,000,000 fags Tuesday and us lot returning on Sunday night/Monday morning!! The boat leaves later, as it's a faster crossing, does that mean we'll have a later check in time Bill? Stay longer in Germany? I know it will only be a few hours longer, but the Pride doesn't leave hull until 21.00hrs instead of 18.00 normally. I expect it will be the same from Europort.

I wish Wednesday and Thursday would fly by, then it will be Friday at last. it's a bit like a kid wishing for Christmas or a birthday, much like me wishing for the end of term!!!

Cheers.

Eric
