Subject: RE: Tiny Tim - opinions on his music? From: catspaw49 Date: 06 May 06 - 07:33 PM Sorry Hawk, but I go only for the real thing!! That of course is the "Rust Level Treatment" at the Neil Young Center for the Terminally Screwed. First and still the best, it gave Shatner his first professional help and allowed him to realize his full potential as a world class dork, complete asshole, and master screw-up!!! He went on from there of course but he owes it all to the NYCFTTS......and that's the fact Jack! Spaw |
Subject: RE: Tiny Tim - opinions on his music? From: Little Hawk Date: 06 May 06 - 07:24 PM Very cool! Stilly, it was that other thread and the memory of the song "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" that gave me the idea to start this thread. Spaw, there is nothing really wrong with you tbat couldn't be cured by a 3-week immersion course in Shatnerology. Well...almost nothing. |
Subject: RE: Tiny Tim - opinions on his music? From: catspaw49 Date: 06 May 06 - 02:51 PM Ya' know PT, there are many times I think that Rick was one of the best things to happen to you in a long time......and one of the lesser moments too....but you know what I mean. I miss you around here .......... Spaw |
Subject: RE: Tiny Tim - opinions on his music? From: Peter T. Date: 06 May 06 - 02:44 PM I have a good friend who produced a documentary on Tiny Tim years ago, and one day when Rick Fielding and I were out somewhere doing something, she happened by, and I introduced them, and happened to mention her documentary, and within seconds they were deep into Tiny Timness. I was totally shocked: all I knew about Tiny Tim was Rowan and Martin!! About two hours later the subject was changed! yours, Peter T. |
Subject: RE: Tiny Tim - opinions on his music? From: catspaw49 Date: 06 May 06 - 02:38 PM Yeah Joe, but the thing is that NONE of it was "easy listening" when you were listening to him do it. Lemmee guess......On the Amazon page where it gives suggestions does it say....... People who bought this album also purchased: ***John Jacob Niles In Concert ***Yoko Ono's 243 Greatest Hits ***The Huey, Dewey, and Louie, Gospel Trio ***Toby Keith Sings Bullshit Until Your Head Explodes Just wondering............Although I must admit a desire to hear him sing "Earth Angel"............... Subject: RE: Tiny Tim - opinions on his music? From: catspaw49 Date: 06 May 06 - 02:04 PM I thought he blew owls but what do I know...........I liked the style he had and the fearlessness with which he performed. I would have liked to hear a few covers as well......like "Space Oddity" maybe........or maybe "Orange Blossom Special" or............or say, uh, "Idiot Wind"........."Imagine" would be good......... Subject: RE: Tiny Tim - opinions on his music? From: GUEST,Jim Date: 06 May 06 - 11:12 AM A jazz pianist friend of mine got a job backing up Tiny Tim on one of his Toronto gigs in the 70s and he said that the charts were quite challaging and fun to play. |

Subject: Tiny Tim - opinions on his music? From: Little Hawk Date: 06 May 06 - 10:14 AM I have a good friend, a lifelong music collector, who says Tiny Tim was a fine musician, one of the best, and I think he may be right about that. I did have one or two of Tiny Tim's records years ago, and I have to say the guy had an incredible vocal range and a great gift for what I would call "vaudeville" performing. Anyone else got any opinions or reminiscences about him? |
