Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: Bounty Hound Date: 24 Aug 11 - 04:13 PM Nice to know I was 'spotted', sorry not to get over to the gather as we were on main stage that afternoon, but I hear a good time was had by all. Moira Furnace just keeps getting better and better, well done to all involved on the committee and in any way with organisation, stewarding etc. Special thanks from me to John King for the loan of his spare gas bottle! I know I speak for all the Bounty Hounds in saying that we all had a fantastic weekend, and two great gigs. Personal highlights, Jez Lowe on Friday evening, and a super set from Chris King (seaking) on Sunday. Hounds won't be back next year as a band, we've done two and of course they want to ring the changes, (although 2013 was mentioned a couple of times!) might just have to book a ticket myself if the band is not busy elsewhere. Thanks for having us from all the Hounds, keep up the good work! John |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: OlgaJ Date: 24 Aug 11 - 01:31 PM Seaking It might have been me, what were we talking about? I was up there late afternoon just before we left but there were lots of people about and I can't actually remember who I talked to. I'm short and dumpy and was probably wearing a striped hat. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: JennyO Date: 24 Aug 11 - 08:04 AM Sounds like a great festival. I think Rob and I might choose to come next year! As it turns out, it's probably just as well we didn't come this year, as I had a stinking cold since last Wednesday which has turned into bronchitis and I'm on antibiotics now. I don't seem to have adjusted to the UK bugs yet :( |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: GUEST,Seaking Date: 24 Aug 11 - 06:12 AM OlgaJ, was it you I was talking to at the CD stall just before I left the site on Sunday ? Just trying to connect names and faces. Chris(King) |

Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: My guru always said Date: 23 Aug 11 - 03:44 PM What a Fabulous weekend, well done to all the Committee & Volunteers who put so much effort into making Moira such a success!! As to the MudGather, yes, I was very surprised at seeing so many Catters come along to support it. I had thought that most people would be at the Concerts, very glad so many could come & join the fun. What an excellent venue that upstairs room of the Railway is! And the landlady, Diane, was absolutely wonderful and very accommodating. I understand she's very keen on sessions in the bar and the locals join in too! Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: Wheatman Date: 22 Aug 11 - 02:36 PM I had a great time and what a location. Sorry about the croaky voice I hope it's not permanent. At least Christine did some singing as well, first time in years. I don't know if we will make it next year but it is on the short list and maybe there will be an invasion from south lincs/ north cambs if we do come. Well done to them oo duz (I speak fen as well as pitmatic) Gan Canny Brian |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: MBSLynne Date: 22 Aug 11 - 11:35 AM Moorley Man, thanks for running singarounds for me...are you up for doing it again next year? Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: GUEST,Seaking Date: 22 Aug 11 - 11:13 AM Sorry I missed the Gather but I had a good excuse, sounds like it was a good one. The festival was great again this year and we even got some sunshine at times. Definitely a 'must do' weekend for me from now onwards, just need to watch out for the tickets going early as the numbers are limited to the size of the main stage tent capacity and it was a sell-out this year. Hope everyone got home safely, was great to see you all. Chris |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: MoorleyMan Date: 22 Aug 11 - 10:28 AM Echoing my personal thanks to all at Moira for another brilliant weekend, it was without doubt the best of the year's fests so far. Fab singing, fab performances from all the stage acts, a fab Mudgather, really good organisation and a great atmosphere, genuinely appreciative and supportive. Dates in diary for next year already! Cheers! |

Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: MBSLynne Date: 22 Aug 11 - 08:19 AM Hi guys, I'm back on the Cat! Moira was brilliant..again. The weather was great, the artists were great and, of course, the people were great. The storywalk was wonderful, one of the high spots, and Cats has some really good ideas for next year. Hils had thought there would only be a handful of people at the Mudgather, but the room was packed...at least 35 people there I think. Some wonderful singing and some yummy chocolate. Another high spot. Love Lynne |

Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: My guru always said Date: 11 Aug 11 - 01:02 PM Glad to see you're coming along Ross. Think the MudGather will be in the upstairs room of the Railway pub (an excellent room discovered last year), but I'm not totally certain. There will be chocolate, that I do know.... |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: Cats Date: 11 Aug 11 - 11:54 AM see you there. If we start the walk at 11 should be finished by 12 - 12.30 ish so just enough time! |

Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: MoorleyMan Date: 04 Aug 11 - 06:54 PM Looks like I too may miss the Mudgather, Hils - unless it goes on for quite a while - since I'm due to finish compering a concert at 4.15 pm, so I might just make it across in time for the final song (as usual...)! |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: My guru always said Date: 22 Jul 11 - 03:57 AM Mudgather at 2pm, eh? Such a shame it clashes with Chris but hope that other Catters will drop by! Don't worry about the shortcake Olga (busy Girlie), it was a special treat last year and much appreciated. Am certain that there will be plenty of chocolate brought to the Gather in a variety of forms as usual..... |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: OlgaJ Date: 21 Jul 11 - 04:13 PM Lots of interest in the story walk (11.00 Saturday)from what I can gather. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: GUEST,Seaking Date: 21 Jul 11 - 03:28 PM My first spot is scheduled for 3.30 on Saturday so will have to miss the Gather :-( Will just have to make up for it later on :-) |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: Cats Date: 21 Jul 11 - 02:16 PM then you can all come on the walk through the woods with the green man |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: OlgaJ Date: 20 Jul 11 - 05:10 PM Apparently the Mudgather will be upstairs in the Railway from 2.00pm on Saturday. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: OlgaJ Date: 17 Jul 11 - 08:13 AM Guilty as charged. Not sure if I will be making any this year as I've only got a couple of days between coming back from holiday and moving house during the week leading up to the festival. The shortbread keeps for weeks so I might do a batch before I go away. I'm pretty sure the Mudgather is going to be in the Railway as there is a big gap in the loft programme on Saturday afternoon but I will check with Lynne. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: My guru always said Date: 17 Jul 11 - 07:12 AM Oh, I am SO looking forward to this! Did we decide where & when the MudGather would be? Had a go at making Million dollar shortbread but it was nowhere near as good as the one brought last year so I won't try again *grin* Was that yours Olga? |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: OlgaJ Date: 17 Jul 11 - 05:09 AM Only 5 weeks to go! Tickets still available. See website for details. www.moirafurnacefolkfestival.co.uk |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: OlgaJ Date: 12 Jul 11 - 04:51 PM Festival t-shirts and sweatshirts are now available to order from the MFFF website. Orders received before 14th August are guaranteed to be delivered in time to pick up at the Festival. Various colours and sizes, some with dates, some with artists names, and some with just the logo so there is plenty to choose from. We have got session leaders for the evenings in both pubs and Sunday lunchtime in the Woodman so it looks like the other afternoon sessions will be a 'do-it-yourself' arrangement. If you feel like having a play or a song just turn up and hopefully other people will join you. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: Wheatman Date: 22 Jun 11 - 04:14 AM Thanks OlgaJ |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: OlgaJ Date: 21 Jun 11 - 06:01 AM Last post seems to have got lost somewhere. JohnJ: I have replied to your PM but let me know if that has got lost too. Wheatman: There is a good drinking water supply on site but you might like to bring a bottle or two for initial use as last year there was a delay in getting the pipe run and people were arriving before it was ready. It should be OK this year as we are planning to run the pipe on the Thursday. No need to load yourself down with bottled water. |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: John J Date: 21 Jun 11 - 03:39 AM There's a water tap on the site, no need to worry! John |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: Wheatman Date: 21 Jun 11 - 03:21 AM I don't think my previous post worked so if this goes twice apologies. We are a coming to the festival this year for the first time with Bella (our caravan) an have been told by previous attendees that bottled water should be consumed either transported there (dangerous, weight problems) or purchased locally. What is the situation regarding fresh water supply on site? Gan Canny Brian |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: OlgaJ Date: 20 Jun 11 - 03:19 PM I'll ask the question at our next meeting but the people who have volunteered so far are already performing or stewarding over the weekend and therefore getting concessions already. Its difficult to know where to draw the line as far as free tickets/camping is concerned as obviously we still have to pay for the camping pitches from our income and as a committee we would really like to be able to keep the cost down next year. However, I can appreciate that volunteers should be rewarded in some way so I will ask the question and see what we can come up with. I'm in the process of moving from Derby to York at the moment so communications with the organizers might not be as frequent as they have been but I will post something on this in the next few weeks when I have spoken to them. |

Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 From: Mrs Scarecrow Date: 20 Jun 11 - 02:06 PM Are you offering free tickets or any other inducements to people who run sessions, not that I am asking personally as I already have tickets |
Subject: RE: Moira Furnace Folk Festival 2011 pub sessions From: OlgaJ Date: 20 Jun 11 - 10:23 AM If anyone coming to the Festival would like to run a pub session can you PM me with your real name and whether you would prefer evening or afternoon sessions and the type of session you would like to run (song/music/mixed)This will give us the opportunity to make sure everyone is catered for most of the time. We appreciate that once a session is under way it tends to look after itself but it is nice to have someone there to steer it! At the moment we only have three sessions with possible leaders (Friday at the Railway, Saturday evening at the Woodman and Sunday lunchtime at the Woodman - all mixed sessions)so there are plenty of spaces available. Many thanks Olga |
