MMario, I have looked a bit, and haven't found a trace of Jock O'hazeldean. You've got me going... any clues?

How about Lady Keith's Lament or Who Will Comfort Me? They always get to me. The latter actually makes me cry every time I hear it.

O my God! Thomas, another Oasis fan? A rare occurance indeed! I LOVE "She's Electric"! It's one of only 3 songs I have memorized, the others being "Digsy's Diner" and "Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is" by Oasis as well.

You and I, we're gonna live forever, my friend!

Right Joe, I haven't even checked on a couple of the ones I play...

So far so good... I'm especially interested in what is known these days as ancient, but keep em comming!

Mbo, I think Oasis ROCKS!, "she's electric" is one of my faves, as well as "Wonder Wall" which gets everyone a bit up.

Remember that if you're listing songs that aren't in the Digital Tradition or Forum, it's a really nice thing to post the lyrics (and Dick will yell at you if you don't).

I like Andy M. Stewart's My Heart It Belongs To She... I always thought Take Her In Your Arms was about a drag queen....

Well, it's "new" and copyrighted, but AshOaken Farewell does it for me. So does Andy M. Stewart's Take Her in Your Arms. Sittin' On the Dock Of the Bay, Wabash Blues (or almost any bues, for that matter). Sweet Georgia Brown.

"Frog Kissing", written by Buddy Kalb (of "Mississippi Squirrel Revival" fame) and recorded by Chet Atkins. In my opinion, it meets your criteria. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

'Everything POssible' by Fred West

'Come by The Hills' - not sure who by

Both in DT

I think this thread will produce some interesting comments. I do believe that 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' but it will be good to see the different songs that each of us might choose as being special in the way you describe.

Cheers,

Catrin

Dang, don't know ANY of those! I'd recommend, with my bulletproof vest firmly in place, "Whatever" by Oasis. A slow, song of hope, with great happy melody, and awesome laid-back harmonica stylings...a great song of hope indeed to young traditional players of this day "I'm free to be whatever, whatever I want, and I'll sing the blues if I want." Sorry...I'm working on the acoustic version now...

Subject: Sweet Magical Songs ARISE!
From: Thomas the Rhymer

I would like very much to find songs that sparkle. You know, the type of song that insires with hope without being a hymn, adds meaning to our lives without being cynical, and is so melodic that it swoons the people three doors down even though they can't quite hear it... I have long felt that some songs have this quality, but some tell me that it is more the singer than the song,... I'm ready. I want the songs. Know any?

Highland Rover, St. Helena, Witch of the Westmerlands, Bailiff's daughter of Islington, and Bonny Betsy Logan are a few.
