Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 04 Sep 02 - 12:04 AM Thank you Vinland! We wanted to marry on The Rock. But circumstances won't allow that. We'll be getting hitched sometime this year, Probably in the Washington DC area. Carol is partial to the weekend of Canadian Thanksgiving for the date. When we pick a time and place we'll be sure to let you all know. We intend to go to Newfoundland next summer. Hopefully we'll see the Newfie catters then. Sorry for the misunderstanding. This may sound odd but Carol is my little piece of Canada, here in the USA. We listen to Newfoundland music, watch Canadian programming and love to talk about the Great White North. She is about the most Canadian person I've ever known. That's one of the many reasons I love her and have no doubts about our future. Carol is my home. We share a great interest in my homeland and I am so looking forward to seeing it again, through her eyes.
Cheers everyone Rob (jts) Dale |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: GUEST,vinland Date: 03 Sep 02 - 11:26 PM No problem to find MudCatters on the Rock to play at your wedding. I just came from our music camp in Gros Morne (Western Nfld) - lots of new young talent there. PM me the date of the big day and I'll take it from there. With all the songwriting talent at the MudCat, we should have no problem getting some great songs! I promise CarolC we'll even have a piano accordion player for the processional. Congrats, Vinland |

Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Willie-O Date: 03 Sep 02 - 09:40 PM Well, good things come outta Hoser Taverns, sometimes. Now repeat after me: "I'm a man But I can change If I hafta I guess..."
I gotta say, though, if the lass wants to become a Canadian, makin her a Newfoundlander is kind of an end run... No, Please, Put down the bottle of Screech. (Prefereably blunt end down.) Hope Carol has a tolerance for inclement weather. I'm speakin from experience, my Jersey-bred partner has been here for 18 years and is still nostalgic for South Jersey winters, which don't hardly even happen. |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 03 Sep 02 - 09:25 PM Thanks for your kind words everyone! We really appreciate your warm wishes. |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 03 Sep 02 - 09:23 PM smallpiper, Willie-O... There's talking about "splicing" and then there is demonstrating one's feelings in a romantic and public way. This way completely compliments the manner in which we came together! We first communicated on Carol's "Hoser Tavern" thread. I certainly knew that she wants to get married. But she still could have said "no" here in the MudCat. |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Willie-O Date: 03 Sep 02 - 09:13 PM One of the alltime great threads, i gotta say. So level with us, is this the real deal, a public proposal, or did you guys discuss this in private first like sensible people? Oh never mind...congratulations. I'm thrilled for you both! Willie-O

Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: harpgirl Date: 03 Sep 02 - 06:51 PM PS .I like the sound of this guy, Carol C. He asks you to marry him to get you to come along to Newfoundland. I seem to attract the ones who want me to move across country to their town before they will make any promises... Why don't more men understand that a woman needs a firm offer just like anyone else who is going to take a big risk like moving? |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: harpgirl Date: 03 Sep 02 - 06:42 PM Congratulations to the both of you. Now, who gets to play at your wedding? |

From the first time I played the "El Tico"....from the first time I stayed at the "Welcome Hotel", I knew there was SOMETHIN' about Newfoundland and it's people! When my buddies from the Sons Of Erin, Little John Cameron and Ralph O'Brien moved to the Rock, I had my suspicions confirmed.....it's a hell of a good place and the people are number one! Congrats you guys! Rick (and Heather, who's never been to "Joey's Isle") |

Subject: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 03 Sep 02 - 01:36 AM WE'LL RANT AND WE'LL ROAR My name it is Robert, they call me the Sailor; I sail on the Mudcat and have lots of fun. Well I never thought that I'd find me a lady But now I'm convinced that she is the one. chorus:Now my little lady she eats only veggies. With organic milk and a hen's egg or two. But she's a fine little sea cook when she stands in the galley She can make a fine feast out of greens and tofu. chorus: Well my voyage has been good, So I'm ready to do it; A couple of thou for the rings and the rest A couple o' dollars for clean shirt and collars, And everything else on Amer'can Express chorus: Now my little maid is in love with my country And my little maiden is in love with me And when we've been married for three years she will be A compatriot and so proud I'll be chorus: Farewell and adieu to ye fair ones of Mudcat, Farewell and adieu to ye girls in the net; I'm bound to my lady, and never to wander, If she will just take now my hand for to wed. chorus: Come on all you laddies and lassies of Mudcat Come dancers and singers where ever you be We're sure to invite you to dance at our wedding The joy of this moment we will share with thee chorus: My lassie and I well we met on the Mudcat When my lady met me she made me at home We had a fine party in that hoser tavern A party we still have when we're on our own chorus: Was that a cod fish I had in my pocket Well I'll never tell but I will tell you this She's the loveliest woman I ever laid eyes on And my cod gets excited whenever we kiss chorus: Carol...... Oh you're my best friend, you're my soul and my lover my night and morning, beginning and end You are the woman I worship and cherish I want to get married so you just say when.
Will you marry me |
