Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: MudGuard Date: 21 Jan 05 - 08:26 AM Still too much Scotch in you, John. Well folks III is nearer than 111 by a factor of CVII. 2 (II) is correct. Therefore III is off by 1. 111 is off by 109. Thus the factor is CIX, not CVII ;-) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: John MacKenzie Date: 21 Jan 05 - 07:51 AM Well folks III is nearer than 111 by a factor of CVII. Giok [silly old bugger] |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: MudGuard Date: 21 Jan 05 - 07:37 AM We MIGHT have difficulty recognising you if you DONT stand up Andy ! Terry, just look for a man who is taller sitting than you standing ;-) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Leadfingers Date: 21 Jan 05 - 07:10 AM We MIGHT have difficulty recognising you if you DONT stand up Andy ! And that 'Rare and peculiar thing' is a standard five string banjo neck on a mandola body , and doesnt work very well for frailing , but still plays just like a banjo , but quieter !! Take off from Stanstead in almost exactly a fortnight !! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Fibula Mattock Date: 21 Jan 05 - 07:10 AM Andy, I could not fail to recognise you! I'm at about 0.9 these days, and enjoying being a skinny thing - I'm eating huge amounts of food! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: MudGuard Date: 21 Jan 05 - 07:05 AM How are you, Fib? 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 ...? Will you not recognize me if I wear no Mudcat identification? |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Fibula Mattock Date: 21 Jan 05 - 06:24 AM Tis indeed, and if the 'Cat goes down for any reason, the plan is to meet in Fiddlers Green on Friday afternoon, wearing apppropriate mudcat identification if possible. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: MudGuard Date: 21 Jan 05 - 06:15 AM John, did you drink too much Scotch and count one of the weeks twice? In III weeks it is 11th February, and Loughstock III will then be in the past ... Only II weeks! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 21 Jan 05 - 06:05 AM Or "lll" weeks in Leadfingers'speak, Giok. Helga's four-string (tenor presumably) banjo would not be much use to Giok, as it will be very much different from a five-string. That rare and peculiar thing that Leadfingers plays might not do the job either. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: John MacKenzie Date: 21 Jan 05 - 05:13 AM III WEEKS |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: MudGuard Date: 17 Jan 05 - 03:51 PM Manitas, of course the cost of the car will be shared. Btw, how do you intend to get to Stansted? Taxi or Car or Stansted Express? (I want to know because I take the Express to get to you - and a return ticket is cheaper than 2 single tickets ...) cu soon, Andy |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: skarpi Date: 17 Jan 05 - 03:43 PM Halló all , MudGuard, Helgi has a 4 string banjo, I am not sure about the banjo on the trip? All the best Sakrpi Iceland. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Manitas_at_home Date: 17 Jan 05 - 03:21 PM I have now booked a hire car and have one spare place. We are picking it up at Belfast International at 1pm on Friday and returning there at noon on Monday. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Eric the Viking Date: 17 Jan 05 - 02:05 PM Thanks Andy. (Will not use my trusty Swiss Army knife to open inboard container now!) Kate, will catch soonest possible bus after arrival. I shall wear a guitar in my button hole and be carrying a bunch of plectrums so you shall recognise me.Please apologise to your mum in advance for me. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: MudGuard Date: 17 Jan 05 - 12:27 PM AFAIK: Terry (Leadfingers), Helgi (from Skarpi's band) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: GUEST,Giok in the blizzard. Date: 17 Jan 05 - 12:22 PM Will anybody be bringing a banjo, I have a 5 string that I want to learn, and I'm looking for some lessons. Finger style none of your clever and fast plectrum stuff;~) Giok |

Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: MudGuard Date: 15 Jan 05 - 01:00 PM Eric, you must be very old that you still remember the time when the loo on planes was flushed to the outside - for some decades now the flush lands ;-) in a onboard container. Here is the bus link: http://www.translink.co.uk/keytables_airbus.asp |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Leadfingers Date: 15 Jan 05 - 12:20 PM We will have to make sure we are in Fiddlers Green well before seven then Eric - See you there !! And you can keep away from my fish and chips Andy !! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Eric the Viking Date: 15 Jan 05 - 12:11 PM Thankyou Dr Fibes. I shall indeed make my way from International airport to Laganside, where upon I trust you'll be arriving. I will telephone you on my mobile communications device. Terry, thank you for the kind offer offer, but as you can see I'm sorted, so black stuff away! I can get the bus to Laganside. Andy you sent me a link once to the timetables etc-I think I might still have it. Irespective of events during the preceeding week I am looking forward to this now I have framed myself. Especially since Skarpi is bringing Biork! Andy, if you look up when the plane passes over the square, I will especially flush the loo just for You! :-) |

Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: MudGuard Date: 14 Jan 05 - 03:20 PM I still want to know what DVT means ... |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Fibula Mattock Date: 14 Jan 05 - 11:49 AM No probs Vikingman - if you get the airport bus into Belfast then me or my ma, or a combination of the deux (depending on car insurance and the suchlike), will collect you from the bus station. There are 2 bus stations, and it would be easier for us to pick you up at the Laganside one, which I think is on the route. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: MudGuard Date: 14 Jan 05 - 03:29 AM Richard, I didn't know Eric parachuted into Brussels ;-) And Eric should of course use his foldable guitar when parachuting ;-) Eric, I don't think Aragon would be allowed onto the plane ;-9 Terry, I'll take that fish and chips away from you ... |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Leadfingers Date: 13 Jan 05 - 08:14 PM Eric - I will have transport - If you need a pick up PM me - I will be prepared NOT to pour too much blackstuff down my neck to be incapable of driving back up for seven pm on Friday !! Cost you a beer , if not a take away fish and chips !! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Eric the Viking Date: 13 Jan 05 - 06:57 PM Anymore out of you Andy, I'll bring Aragon with me-he don't need quarantine and loves a good walk. He's soooo much bigger now!! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Eric the Viking Date: 13 Jan 05 - 06:53 PM I get chance Richard-I'll dent his head!! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: mooman Date: 13 Jan 05 - 06:52 PM Not sure Andy...he might dent his guitar again a la Brussels fashion... moo |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: MudGuard Date: 13 Jan 05 - 06:49 PM Hm - Eric, on the flight from Leeds to Belfast International, the plane should pass right above portaferry - you could parachute onto "The square" ;-) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Eric the Viking Date: 13 Jan 05 - 06:43 PM Well I gues we'd better get ready to flame the bog seat at viking towers! A cryptosporidium infection, that's not nice!! Anyway. Me seat is booked on the flight, unfortunately I could not land at City airport and will arrive at International at about 19.00hrs. How does that sit with the lift bit? I also leave on the Sunday and need to be back at the airport for 17.00hrs (ish). Now all I need to do is sort out where to kip. To tell you the truth, I nearly didn't make it. My mind has been so full of this OFSTED inspection,, I lost focus and couldn't decide whether I would get there or not, but they will be done by Friday lunchtime and I'll be able to leave school for 15.30 instead of the normal 17.00 hours or later as it will be for the next 3 weeks. My brain still isn't focussed on the trip. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: John MacKenzie Date: 13 Jan 05 - 06:16 PM Sit down and drink a glass of Entre Deaux Merdes, it's better than goat's piss, or so I'm told. Steer clear of Bristol Cream. Giok |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Liz the Squeak Date: 13 Jan 05 - 06:04 PM Ah, if you want to learn about Bristol Stool Form Scales, talk to Lady Penelope.... she knows all about them!! LTS |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Fibula Mattock Date: 13 Jan 05 - 05:53 PM Well, at first I thought I'd caught it from pulling a cute cryptographer at the Christmas Party, but it turns out it's more likely that a goat pissed in my water supply. I reached Type 7 on the Bristol Stool Form Scale. I didn't even know the Bristol Stoool Form Scale existed until then. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: John MacKenzie Date: 13 Jan 05 - 05:48 PM What about you then Fibs? From crapto to crypto in 2 short moves, sure you're even more of a walking disaster area then me. See y'all soon Giok |

Looking forward to seeing you. And I should be over my cryptosporidium infection by then - it's official, the council have written to tell me I'm a public health hazard and am banned from swimming pools for 2 weeks. Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: GUEST Date: 13 Jan 05 - 04:43 PM Plumber's mate and I were thinking of coming along, but we've been so busy both before and since Christmas that we never got organised, and now alternative arrangements are planned. Subject: RE: Loughstock lll From: Letty Date: 06 Jan 05 - 12:56 PM I missed oliebollen ( = oil balls) this New Year's Eve. They're a traditional treat on that night in Holland. With lots of icing sugar. Yum. And appelflappen! (same, but flat with apple in it) Strangest things I saw deepfried: - Mars bars in a chipper in Donegal - a carrot for a drunk vegetarian in a student bar Letty |
