Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Backwoodsman Date: 17 Oct 18 - 07:19 AM Very sorry to hear this, Keith. Past disputes and disagreements are as nothing in comparison to a fellow human being's life and, certainly for me, they are now gone and forgotten. With every good wish to you, Mary, and your family - may you find strength and comfort during what remains of your time here. All the best, Keith. |

Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: DMcG Date: 17 Oct 18 - 05:49 AM I am truly sorry to hear that. Differences of opinion should never blind us to the fact we are talking to real people with real concerns. I very much doubt if there is anything I can do to help, but if there is anything feel free to PM. I wish you all the best for whatever time you have left. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 17 Oct 18 - 05:34 AM Mary and I have had a great run including some exotic holidays since last post. We have now come to the end of the road with just weeks to go. Mercifully, no pain. I have enjoyed the music resource here, and the many discussions. I may not post again but I will try to look in. Love and best wishes to all. keith |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 29 Apr 17 - 04:34 AM In UK it is always "keemo." I have not been offered any of the new immune treatments but there are trials I could join. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: ChanteyLass Date: 28 Apr 17 - 07:58 PM Exhaling. Now saying prayers of thanks. I hope the chemo goes well. Thompson, in my part of the US, we say keemo. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Thompson Date: 27 Apr 17 - 04:43 PM Mind yourself, Keith. By the way, do they do that DNA-targeted treatment for the particular cancer that has its teeth temporarily into you? If they can, it's supposed to mean the chemo is less sickmaking but works really well. (By the way, do you pronounce it keemo or kemmo? I've always heard keemo, but a friend who spent years in the US says kemmo.) |

Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 27 Apr 17 - 05:19 AM Home again! Here are the grisly details. It was understood that the op would be abandoned if possibility of cancer in the artery. He was able to clear the artery but not the vein so it was abandoned. I was under for 6 hours, 3 of which was working on the vein. He took many samples from all the nearby tissues and organs, and no cancer was found. That makes this a good news story, and very unusual. I will be checked for any regrowth every few months, and I should have a reasonable life expectancy now. That is a remarkable reversal of what I have been living with the last year and a half. I am very weak and sore fro the op., but much better than I was. I should be back to normal (?) in a few weeks or months. Anyway, I am safely home and being well looked after. Thanks for all your concern, kind thoughts and prayers. They worked! Keith and Mary. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: ChanteyLass Date: 19 Apr 17 - 09:34 PM It's hard to hold my breath and say a prayer at the same time, but I'm doing it. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: keberoxu Date: 19 Apr 17 - 06:32 PM I have a little affirmation working for you, that goes: clean enough for surgery, clean enough for surgery ... with reference to your account of a scan that showed something on the artery which, if it proved cancerous, would change the surgeon's plans. Keeping you in thoughts and prayers, Keith. |

Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: keberoxu Date: 08 Apr 17 - 06:40 PM The OP on this thread stated that surgery would have been preferable but the doctors had decided against it. So I take it that to be a candidate, now, for surgery is a great improvement. So take all the improvements you can get! Continued prayers. |

Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 08 Apr 17 - 04:09 AM Dear Well-wishers. An amazing thing has happened to me. Although little hope was given for the last treatment (radio-chemo) a subsequent CT scan revealed "no measurable residual mass" where the tumour had been! The surgeon will now operate, but there is still something on the artery which despite a PET scan (interesting!) could possibly contain cancer. If it does he will abandon the procedure. (Whipple procedure) The operation is scheduled for the 24th. Thank you for your good wishes and prayers. They worked! keith. |

Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 15 Dec 16 - 05:43 AM Thanks for your kind wishes. The radio/chemo was not too bad thanks. I think the radio ha messed up my stomach a bit, but they warned the effects are at their worst two weeks after, which is now. A scan will show if it has shrunk enough to operate, but that is a very small chance so nature will take its course. I hope you have a healthy, peaceful and joyous Christmas. Very best wishes, keith. |
Subject: RE: BS: chemotherapy From: keberoxu Date: 14 Dec 16 - 12:36 PM You revived this thread, Keith, over eight weeks ago after being released from hospital. Your more recent course of treatment can't have been pleasant, but perhaps it is completed by now. Best wishes for the holidays for you and yours. |
