Subject: RE: Art Thieme-UPDATE 6 Nov. 2011-Keep them together! From: katlaughing Date: 09 Nov 11 - 04:14 PM Sins et al, as far as I know the addy is the same, for now. No word back from Chris. I called one time, but I don't want to do that, again. Didn't get an answer. I am sure this is consuming all the energy he can muster from what 's left after work and tending to his own beautiful family. I do know he has been keen on getting them moved closer to him and his family, so I hope he can make that happen. Art and Carol always get such joy when they get to see their grandchildren. I keep thinking of the strong lessons I have learned from Art to roll with the punches and stay positive, see the humour, and walk on, so to speak. "Onward and upward" as he always says. I hope he's still saying it. I'm with the rest of you, hard to see any situation which would be "better/best" with them apart. I will send Chris another email and ask if writing in would help or not. love you folks, kat |
Subject: RE: Art Thieme-UPDATE 6 Nov. 2011-Keep them together! From: olddude Date: 09 Nov 11 - 02:56 PM Both of you are in my thoughts my heart and my prayers ... God forbid ... anything Art .. you know I love you my friend |
Subject: RE: Art Thieme-UPDATE 6 Nov. 2011-Keep them together! From: SINSULL Date: 09 Nov 11 - 11:55 AM Chris would have to decide on any campaign. Meantime, is the snail mail the same? SINS |
Subject: RE: Art Thieme-UPDATE 6 Nov. 2011-Keep them together! From: gnu Date: 08 Nov 11 - 01:34 PM Thanks Sandra. What about Letters to the Editors of various newspapers with the names of the HMOs, insurance companies, government departments IF things don't trurn out well? Of course, it has to be thought out by and approved by Chris as sometimes such efforts can have negative results, especially before a a decision is made. I am with you Spaw. |
Subject: RE: Art Thieme-UPDATE 6 Nov. 2011-Keep them together! From: catspaw49 Date: 08 Nov 11 - 12:24 PM I know Sins but sadly I can imagine how the ins/medicare folks could make it almost impossible too. I was wondering if some form of letter writing might help? Either a single letter/email from one of us but for all of us or individual e-mails. All of us here "know" Art and how devoted they are to each other. Also how important he is to us here and the entire folk community in general. They went through all those times together and now should be no different. I dunno'........I just want to do some damn thing or another and I can't see what can be done except to support Chris and hope for the best. Spaw |

Each State determines it's own definition of "assisted living" for Medicare and Medicaid purposes and I have no idea how Illinois defines such facilities. Subject: RE: Art Thieme-UPDATE THE LATEST From: katlaughing Date: 06 Nov 11 - 11:37 PM Just received the following from Chris. I cannot imagine Art and Carol having to live apart, so let's all send as much energy, etc. as we can to help Chris out with the Resistance! I don't like the sounds of this at all. There has to be a way for this to work out. It's been a busy week. Mom and Dad got moved to a new and smaller room. Not clear as to why. More importantly, Mom's anxiety has been high. Social services found a difference between her previous meds and the current, and that is in for review. We should know Monday or Tuesday if they fixed that issue. We are looking at an interim place in Ottawa, and I am waiting on a call back from there. I am also checking out a place near us on Monday. There is a Care Plan meeting on November 17th for both my parents. We'll know then what direction the facility is looking at and see if that coincides with ours. I keep steering this towards them being in the same place. The path of least resistance is to have them live separately. I'm putting up resistance to that path. Thanks to all for your support through this. Chris I just emailed Chris to ask if the same addy applies for cards, etc. and also if things were being forwarded from their home in Peru. I don't know if he'll have time to answer any time, soon, but will let you know if and when he does. I give thanks that Art and Carol are living together, with the best of care, nearby Chris and his family. I give thanks for this, or something better, for the highest good of all concerned. So mote it be! kat |
