Jane - Why would all five of your offspring, never mind Geoff, be interested in ration books, eh? (But I would agree that only women understand ration books, & therefore men should not be allowed anywhere near one. Please? Especially Davetnova!!)

Liz - If you want to get between Cats & her ration book, I'm not bloody well rescuing you - I heard what happened to Actaeon, for a start! But anything that keeps Limpit off my back (literally) is to be encouraged (just don't push yer luck...).

Went to Black Dog last night and beer and cider is being sorted. The pub is having a refurb so will look all posh before we arrive and having seen the artists impression will make the area near the conservatory a lot better for singing or musicians. I need to start counting bodies tents and caravans soon so if you could pm me it would make life easier although I will also go through the thread. This is the fifth Yorkshire gathering and looks like it could also be the best so don't miss it.

Lynne, Biddenden is LOVELY Highly alcoholic (at least 8% BV and I suspect rather more sometimes) but with a lovelytart very appley taste like one would imagine liquidised Cox's apples would taste, sometimes known as "Milk of Amnesia"

bd - How about some mild? You can't get mild in a London pub! Other than that, rather than thinking about a barrel or two, is it possible for a publican to get a broader selection in smaller quantity at trade price (e.g. bottled stuff)? I'm an ale/beer man, & don't go much on 'bitter' so if you get a barrel of bitter, I probably won't try it past the first pint. But if you've got a range I'll try one of each (seshpeshully hif I *hic* ain't shtried 'em be*hic*fore...) before settling on my faves (assuming I'm not parallel by then! ;-) ). I suspect most beer lovers, most folkies (is there a distinction (shaddap Khatt!) between the two?) are much the same.

The CAMRA beer tent at Festival At The Edge is pure heaven precisely because, if one beer don't suit, I can finish it (of course, finish it! It's still beer, man!!) & move on to a different one...

I am trying to fix a way to get there, but it is unlikely. York folk day saturday at the Black Swan and I will be busy all day, and friday night is the ususal Tap & Spile evening. Might make Sunday but " her indoors" will almost certainly kick off, especially comming so soon after the NYC trip. I'll try
