Subject: From the shoals to the plains From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 14 Apr 07 - 10:47 PM I heard a ditty sung by R. W. Hampton, today, entitled "North to Kansas." The tune is 'The Shoals of Herring;" the lyrics relate a cattle drive to Kansas. "North" uses the form of the fishing song, and shares much of the lyrics. The folk process in action. |
