Subject: RE: Great Dreams From Heaven/Happy Meeting From: Murray MacLeod Date: 07 May 07 - 01:26 PM Great Dreams from Heaven performed by John Renbourn. This is the fourth Youtube version of Renbourn performing this Joseph Spence song, unfortunately it is also the weakest IMHO, but still well worth watching. The other three videos were all removed, alas, due to terms of use / copyright violations. ( The version with Jacqui McShee was absolutely spellbinding ). |

Subject: RE: Great Dreams From Heaven/Happy Meeting From: Jim Dixon Date: 07 May 07 - 08:41 AM Allmusic.com lists a song called THERE WILL BE A HAPPY MEETING IN GLORY, recorded by Joseph Spence, on "The Complete Folkways Recordings," 1958. Also listed are 3 recordings of GREAT DREAM(S) FROM HEAVEN, composed by Joseph Spence: By Ry Cooder on "Into the Purple Valley" By Phil Heywood on "Some Summer Day" By John Renbourn & Jacqui McShee on "In Concert" (DVD) |

It is also on a Folkways CD - Click Here as Happy Meeting. BTW, there is in existence a Mel Bay publication for this very CD with notationand tab for the pices. It is likely out of print, but do some google/ebay work and I think you will find it. dw |

Subject: Great Dreams From Heaven/Happy Meeting From: GUEST,Jim Date: 19 Apr 07 - 07:25 PM I have been looking for a song/tune sung/played by Joseph Spence. It's either called There Will Be A Happy Meeting or Great Dreams From Heaven, or possibly it goes by both names. My local record store can get me either one. If they are the same tune, as I suspect, then I don't care which one I get, but if they are different tunes, I'd like to get the right one. Neither seems to be in the Digitrad. Thanks for any help you can give me. |
