Subject: Lyr Add: SEVEN DEADLY VIRTUES (Lerner and Lowe) From: Date: 19 Mar 97 - 07:51 PM Remember this stuff is copyrighted by Lerner and Lowe. Traditional stuff is easy to share on the net, but this is modern and copyrighted. SEVEN DEADLY VIRTUES Virtue and proper deeds, Your Majesty? Like what? Courage, Milord? Purity and Humility, my liege? Diligence? Charity? Honesty? Fidelity? The seven deadly virtues? No thank you, Your Majesty. The seven deadly virtues Those ghastly little traps Oh no, my lord, they weren't meant for me Those seven deadly virtues They're made for other chaps Who love a life of failure and ennui Take Courage - Now there's a sport An invitation to the state of rigor mort And Purity- A noble yen And very restful every now and then I find Humility means to be hurt It's not the earth the meek inherit - it's the dirt Honesty is fatal and should be taboo Diligence, a fate I would hate If Charity means giving, I give it to you And Fidelity is only for your mate You'll never find a virtue unstatusing my quo Or making my Be-ezlebubble burst Let others take the high road I will take the low I cannot wait to rush in Where angels fear to go With those seven dealy virtues Free and happy little me has not been cursed. Sung by Mordred in Camelot by Learner and Lowe |

Subject: RE: ?Lyrics for From: LaMarca Date: 19 Mar 97 - 09:40 AM Kurt Weill and Bertold Brecht wrote a song cycle of The Seven Deadly Sins; it's wonderfully nasty, as most of their collaborations were. Recordings of it are scarce, and would be filed in the "classical" music section of most record stores. I know this isn't quite what you're looking for, but you might be interested just the same... |

Subject: RE: ?Lyrics for From: Joe Offer Date: 19 Mar 97 - 02:09 AM Yup. I have to admit that the 7 virtues are tucked away in the old brain, too: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. Those were the gifts of the Holy Ghost. Then there were the twelve fruits of the Holy Ghost, but that question isn't circled and the information is not stored in my memory. Ah, life was easy when all we had to do was memorize the principles, not practice them. ...but what I'm looking for is the lyrics to the song, both the "Seven Deadly Virtues" song from "Camelot," and any other songs on the topic. Can anybody help? -Joe- |

Subject: RE: ?Lyrics for From: LaMarca Date: 18 Mar 97 - 06:04 PM I ran across a book of mnemnonics that gave "WASPLEG" as the key to remembering them: Wrath Avarice Sloth (My personal favorite) Pride Lust Envy Gluttony Does anyone remember the Seven Cardinal Virtues? Faith, Hope and Charity are all that come to mind, 'cause they weren't as much fun... |

Subject: RE: ?Lyrics for From: Joe Offer Date: 17 Mar 97 - 11:14 PM You don't mean "Seven Deadly Virtues" from "Camelot," do you? By the way, Question 75 of my Baltimore Catechism says those seven sins, called "capital sins," are pride, covetousness, lust, anger, gluttony, envy, and sloth. -Joe- |
