It is a beautiful day in Paramus, a slight chance of showers, but it will be a perfect evening for this concert!   I thank everyone who added their comments above.   I have been looking forward to this show since we booked them over a year ago!   The Hurdy Gurdy audiences are known for singing along, so it should be an incredible experience.

By the way, the Hurdy Gurdy is located in Paramus, NJ - and only about 15 minutes from the George Washington Bridge. It is accessible to many major NJ highways (including Routes 4, 17, 80 and near the Garden State Parkway and the NJ Turnpike among others) so it is easy to get to.   I would love to see the room full for this show!

Please stop by and say hello if you can make it!

Ron

If you can't make it, and you live anywhere in New Jersey, stick your head out a window and listen--you'll probably be able to hear Don.

Yes, it is true! The Hurdy Gurdy will close our current season of
concerts this Saturday night, and we will also bid farewell to
Paramus as we will be moving in September.

On Saturday night at 8pm, the Hurdy Gurdy proudly presents an evening
of "Songs of the Sea" featuring Tom Callinan and Don Sinetti. The
concert will take place at the Central Unitarian Church at 156 Forest
Road in Paramus, NJ.

Tom Callinan and Don Sinetti are members Of The Morgans, a New
England based group known for their music of the sea. Tom and Don
will present an evening of sea music - spirited songs and tales of
ships and whales, folk, old-timey, and novelty songs.

Don Sineti, folksinger, songwriter, part-time sea chanteyman at
historic Mystic Seaport Museum (with one of the most powerful voices
on the Eastern Seaboard!), and long-neck, 5-string banjo picker , is
also an award-winning marine mammal illustrator with a number of
prestigious exhibitions and books to his credit. For over twenty
years, he has combined his exhaustive knowledge of cetaceans (whales,
dolphins, and porpoises) with his boundless energy, to deliver
rousing renditions of songs from the days of wooden ships and iron
men, alongside his own compositions dedicated to saving whales and
the degraded marine environment.

Tom Callinan, folksinger, award-winning songwriter, multi-
instrumentalist (upwards of 20 - from the wind, string, and
percussion families), and storyteller, is a former Connecticut junior
high school teacher, who has made the creative and performing arts
his full-time profession since 1977. Whether he is demonstrating how
to play the spoons, teaching catchy choruses to a wide variety of
songs, eliciting gestures or directing other activities, he
constantly strives to remove the barrier between the performer and
audiences of all ages, thus bringing out the best in human emotions -
camaraderie. In 1991, he was designated Connecticut's first Official
State Troubadour through legislation passed by The General Assembly,
and signed by Governor Lowell P. Weicker, Jr.

Tickets for the concert are $20 or $17 for members. You can join the
Hurdy Gurdy either online at our website or at the door the night of
the concert. Your membership will enable you to receive a discount
on shows next season as well!

The Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music club will present this final concert at the
Central Unitarian Church, 156 Forest Ave., Paramus, New Jersey. Our
series offers great entertainment in a comfortable atmosphere at a
reasonable price. All shows are at 8 pm. Refreshments are available.

Advance tickets are available through our website at
www.hurdygurdyfolk.org , or you can pick up tickets at Brier Rose
Books,450 Cedar Lane in Teaneck, New Jersey (201-836-5500). For more
information you can also call the Hurdy Gurdy at (201) 384-8465.

We hope you can join us for what promises to be a memorable evening!
In addition to a treat of an evening of great music, you can help us
celebrate our move to Fair Lawn, New Jersey. We will be announcing
our lineup for next season at this concert.

See you there!!
